Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kit in Dolce K - review & wear test

December 1, 2016

The latest review in my matte liquid lipstick wear test series is the Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kit in Dolce K. I have avoided buying the lip kits previously because I personally don't love the Kardashian family, but most importantly, the price is quite high (especially with shipping). Regardless, there was a discount shipping sale and I jumped on it.

You can buy Kylie Cosmetics from the website which ships internationally. The Kylie Lip Kits come with one liquid lipstick and a matching lip liner for US$29 and shipping is US$8.95 in the US and US$14.95 for international shipping. If you buy one lip kit it will cost you around AU$58 so its not cheap.

The first thing I noticed about this lip kit is that it looks VERY similar to the ColourPop products (which makes sense since they are made in the same factory). I do think they feel and look a little cheap for the price point.

When I applied the product I was really impressed by the shade and the formula. Dolce K is a perfect flattering medium brown nude and it applies very smoothly, is opaque in one coat, doesn't transfer, doesn't make your lips look too dry, and lasts around 6 hours. The lip pencil is very creamy, not super long lasting or budge proof but is easy to apply and has nice pigmentation. The lip liner is pretty much identical to the formula of the ColourPop lip pencils but the liquid lipstick has an added sweet scent and I find it to be less drying and slightly longer lasting than the ColourPop Ultra Matte Liquid Lipsticks.

If you want to see how this applies and how it wears then check out the video below.

Overall I like this lip kit, the formula is nice and the shade is exactly what I look for in a nude. I also like having a lip liner and lipstick that almost matches perfectly (the lip liner is slightly lighter than the lipstick). Even though I don't regret buying this (possibly because I lucked out with picking a great shade), I definitely won't be investing in any more because of the cost. These are only a fraction better quality than the ColourPop products that retail for US$6 per item.
Have you tried any of the Kylie Lip Kits? What were your thoughts?
