September draaaaaaagged. I finished up at my full time job mid month, I have taken on a lot more work with Beauty News and I am playing a lot of catch up with blogging/seeing friends/organising my house! I was potentially going to skip my favourites this month because I have been so dedicated to using the products in my Project Pan that I have barely tried anything new, but I managed to come up with a short list of great products that I have been loving.
Let's start with base products. As the weather starts to warm up I have been reaching for the L'Oreal Infallible Mattifying Foundation in 20 Sand which is a medium coverage, light weight, matte finish foundation that I love! I even bought a backup earlier in the month because I know this will be one of my go to foundations in summer. This claims to be long lasting but it doesn't hold up to a long day BUT it does feel amazingly comfortable and it's perfect for your normal makeup day.
The concealer that I have been reaching for is the It Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye Illumination Concealer in Medium. This concealer is a very thick heavy coverage concealer that lasts all day. What makes this different from my other concealers is that it is quite pink toned which actually works amazingly at brightening the under eye area and it works great as covering redness and blemishes. For some reason the cooler pink tone helps hide blemishes a lot better than more yellow toned concealer. This is quite a tacky concealer so you need to set it well, but once you do it does last all day - and often outlasts my foundations!
My mascara favourite of the last couple of months is the Elizabeth Arden Grand Entrance Mascara. It has a curved spiky brush and it does a fantastic job at lengthening, volumising and separating the lashes. The curve also makes its really easy to apply to the lower lash line. Lastly the brush has a few spikes at the tip which allows you to define specific areas. Not only is this handy, but Elizabeth Arden have managed to make the spikes practical instead of an overly obnoxious ball like many other mascara brands have done. Definitely one of my top mascaras I have used this year!
I have rediscovered my Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade in Medium Brown when I was doing a brow declutter earlier in the month. I liked this when I first used it, but I like it even more a few months later. When you first open it it is more like paint and can easy to overapply, but when it has dried out slightly it acts more of a brow powder with a bit more grip and I find it so much easier to use!
For some random products I have been loving the Maybelline Color Show 60 Seconds Nail Polish in shade 46 Sugar Crystals. I have been wearing this as a fine sparkly top coat on pastel shades, bright shades, neutral shades and it adds a little shine and magic to your nail look.
Speaking of hands... the hand cream that has made a permanent addition to my work desk is the Hand Chemistry Extreme Hydration Concentrate. This is a gel hand cream that not only hydrates your hands but it doesn't leave a oily creamy residue and I can't stand a oily residue during the day. If you are after a gel hydrating hand cream then this one is fab (I just wish it had a better scent).
For coloured makeup this month I have been loving three products:
The first is the new Rimmel London Kate Moss 15 Year Anniversary lipsticks - I have done a whole post and video dedicated to these so I won't go into too much detail, but they have been my go to lipsticks if I want a nude or a red and they are amazingly comfortable, pigmented, smooth and the packaging is gorgeous.
Then for a pop of colour I have been amazed by the formula and shades of the YSL Babydoll Eye Liner in 11 Lumiere Blue and 12 Amethyst Light. I bought these for $15 each at a clearance store earlier in the month and I honestly haven't ever used a more bold and shiny liquid eyeliner ever! My only struggle is that the brush is a little hard to use... but it's worth the hassle!
Lastly I have been experimenting with coloured highlighters but I keep coming back to using the Bobbi Brown Sparkle Eye Shadow in Lilac which gives the cheeks a pop of purple shimmer without looking too bruised (unlike the Anastasia Beverly Hills Moonchild Glow Kit). The Bobbi Brown Sparkle Eye Shadows are great for general highlighting if you own any and rarely use them as an eyeshadow.
So those are my favourite products of September. Make sure to check back next month because I have been testing out some fun new products/Christmas releases and I know they will make for a fun October favourites!
