Red Earth summer staples

October 27, 2016

Hey crew! I have been trying out a few summer staples from Red Earth courtesy of Activeskin. If you haven't checked out the website before, I highly recommend checking it out for brands like Red Earth, Alpha H, Becca, Bite Beauty, Dermalogica, Eye of Horus... and of course my all time favourite brush brand The Wet Brush. They also have free shipping on orders over $95 and they have same day dispatch on weekdays on orders before 2:00pm.

Firstly I tried out the Facial Tanning Serum Argan Oil + Organic Fig which is a gradual face tanner that is designed to be absorbed really quickly. What I love about this product is that it provides a nice subtle tan that you can slowly build up, and it doesn't look unnatural. It is really handy if you are like me and you wear a strong SPF everyday and you find that your face is always significantly lighter than your body. I also love that it is a very light formula that does dry quickly and it allows you to follow it up with your moisturiser and skincare routine very easily. The only negative is that it does have a fake tan scent to it when you first apply it, but the scent does fade as the product dries. This retails for $40 for 50ml (which will last you a very long time) and the packaging has a handy pump which makes dispensing the right amount very simple.

The next product I have been trying out is the Red Earth Earth Colour Eyeshadow Palette in the shade Warm Glow which contains 10 eyeshadow shades and retails for $39. This is a very pretty palette with beautiful metallic bronze packaging with a large mirror in the lid and a small double ended brush. If you are a brush fanatic then you probably won't like this brush, but if you are new to makeup then this double ended brush does the job. The shades are a mix of mattes (4) shimmers, metallics, and glittery shades.

There is a lovely mix of natural warm earthy shades, which is perfect for a quick summer eye look. Overall the palette does lean very light with a shimmery opal, a light shimmery beige, a light shimmery peachy pink, a light shimmery silvery pink, but only one mid toned shimmery shade which is a beautiful bronze gold and one deeper shimmery shade with is a warm plum with gold shimmer. So if you love a light shimmery eyeshadow shade then you will love this palette but if you prefer deeper shades then you might want to check out the other palettes in the Red Earth range. I do love the colour choices for the matte shades in this palette, there is a beautiful peachy cream, a really pretty pinky nude transition shade, a chocolate brown and a very deep almost plummy black brown which is perfect for adding depth to any look.

The formula of the shades are almost like pressed pigments where they are quite pigmented but the shimmery shades do have a tendency to have a bit of a silicon feel (which makes the eyeshadows feel more like they are slightly dense and moist opposed to being very dry and powdery), which isn't an issue but it does mean that they perform better when applied with a dense flat brush (or your finger) instead of a fluffy brush. The matte shades are very nice and blendable and buildable.

Now onto the last product which is the Red Earth Secret Potion Illuminating Skin Fluid in Magician, which is a best selling product from the Red Earth range. This liquid illuminator comes in three shades and Magician is the gold shade in the range. This is a very pretty multi-purpose illuminator which can be mixed with your foundation to add a slight illuminosity to the skin or can be applied on the body for a hint of glow. It is also recommended to use this on top of your foundation as a natural dewy highlighter but I think this gives varying results based on the finish of your foundation. The Vitamins A and E and Balm Mint Extract can clash with a heavy coverage or matte finish foundation but will blend nicely with a dewy BB cream or light foundation. I will keep reaching for this to add a nice sheen to my legs and arms as it makes the skin look really gorgeous and healthy and this shade compliments a tan perfectly. This retails for $39 for 30ml which will last you a very long time as you only need the smallest amount to get a natural glow.

Overall I really like the quality of these products from Red Earth and they will make for a perfect simple summer tanned glowy look. If you want to see any more information then check out

Note: these products were given to me as a press sample. My review is 100% my own opinion
