Clarisonic Mia 2 vs Clarisonic Mia Fit

September 7, 2016

Over the past few months I have been part of the Clarisonic social influencer mentoring program, which has been a load of fun! Not only have I met new people, learnt a few new tips and tricks, but I have also been given a few Clarisonic products to test out... including the brand new Clarisonic Mia Fit!

This is my review and comparison between the Mia 2 and the Mia Fit.

So what are the Clarisonic Mia 2 and Mia Fit? Both of these are sonic cleansing brushes designed to help cleanse your skin 6x more effectively than cleansing with your hands. They are safe to use up to two times a day, they help skincare absorb a lot better, and they leave your skin looking and feeling smoother and more radiant. I personally use mine in the evening to take off my makeup and I have noticed that my skin looks so much smoother and the look of pores have diminished significantly since using them.

Some of the similarities between the Mia 2 and Mia Pro is that they essentially do the same job, they use the same brush heads (you can get many different types of brush heads for different skin types), the both can be used twice a day, they both have two speeds, they both hold a charge that should last around a month of once a day use or two weeks of twice daily use, they both come with a 2 year warranty and they are both completely waterproof.

Some of the differences are that they are obviously different size and shape with the Mia 2 having a handle and the Mia Fit being much smaller and compact. They Mia 2 has a 60 second timer (20 sec for the forehead, 20 sec for t-zone and 10 sec per cheek and then it turns off) but the Mia Fit has the same 60 second timer on speed 1 but it also has a 80 second program if you put it on speed 2 (which adds 20 sec for the neck before it turns off).  The Mia Fit has a display that shows what setting you are on and it also shows you when the battery is running low. The last main differences are the way they charge (which I will talk more about later) and the price with the Mia 2 retailing for AU$199 and the Mia Fit retailing for $315.

Before I give my overall thoughts I wanted to give some basic tips about using all Clarisonic devices. Firstly, besides exfoliants and cleansing balms (which can clog up the device) you can use ANY cleanser with your Clarisonic - whether it be cleansing gel, cream, lotion, foam... whatever. Each device comes with a sample of the Clarisonic range of skincare but its just an option, they don't work any better with Clarisonic cleansers over other cleansers.

Also I didn't know this but you need to clean the heads. If you use your Clarisonic morning and night, make sure you use a soap of some variety to actually wash the brush head at night. If you use your Clarisonic once a day make sure you clean the brush head after you use it. Also around once a week you should be taking off the brush head and cleansing/disinfecting the device.

So which one do I prefer? I like the aesthetics of the Mia Fit, I like the colours available, I like how small it is and how well it sits on your sink. I also like the 80 second setting - but you can mimic this with the Mia 2 if you just turn it on again for a further 20 seconds.

However, there are three reasons I personally prefer the Mia 2 over the Mia Fit:

Firstly, I like the stability of having a handle to hold it in the shower. When it comes to a wet and soapy environment I want to know that I won't accidentally drop a device worth a few hundred dollars.

Secondly, I prefer the way the Mia 2 charges. The Mia 2 comes with powder cord that magnetically clasps onto the handle and plugs into the power point. The Mia Fit on the other hand comes with a cradle that you can easily sit the Mia Fit onto and it uses a USB to charge. If this came with a plug that allows you to plug the USB into the power point then this is a great universal way of charging - you can use the powder point or a computer to charge it. Because it doesn't come with one it either means you need to go and buy one, hopefully already have one, or you can charge it through your computer. This all sort of annoys me because it makes it harder to charge it in your bathroom straight away.

Lastly, I prefer the price point.

I know the Mia 2 is a little bulky, but if you are going to keep it in the shower then it does the same job for less money. However, if you do travel often and want a small device that has a power cord that can charge from your laptop then the Mia Fit is for you. Or if you have very little bathroom space and need something that can easily tuck away with your skincare on your sink or in your cupboard then the Mia Fit would suit you. I personally am spoilt for choice and get to have the best of both worlds by having the Mia 2 in my shower and the Mia Fit on my bathroom sink.

There are more types of Clarisonic cleansing devices available (including the Alpha Fit which is designed for men and has a beard cleaning setting). Check out all the devices and information at the Clarisonic website.

Note: these products were given to me as a press sample. My review is 100% my own opinion
