One Australian brand that needs more attention in the beauty community is Eye Of Horus. Originally Eye Of Horus were known for their eyeliners and mascara but they have more recently ventured into some great brow products and eyeshadows. I have been using their brow pencil for a while now and it definitely rivals the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz and is cheaper! It's also good to note that Eye of Horus is cruelty free but some of their products contain beeswax so they aren't a vegan makeup line.
Eye Of Horus has recently been added to the list of brands on one of my favourite Australian online beauty stores Activeskin.com.au. Activeskin sells makeup/haircare/skincare/body products/fragrances, shipping is free with orders over $95.00, and their customer service is great!
The lovely people from Activeskin did send me these products to trial.
The three Goddess Pencils that I have been testing out from the Eye of Horus line are Bronze Amulet, Scarab Sapphire and Sahara Nude. These pencils are fantastic because they apply quite creamy but set budge proof and water proof after a minute or so, so you can use these as a standard liner or you can smudge them out for a smoky eye, or even apply them as an eye shadow base.
Bronze Amulet is a beautiful warm deep bronze with a gold shimmer and works well at creating a smoky brown look. Scarab Sapphire is a deep indigo blue with a slight metallic sheen and is a great alternative to a black liner. Sahara Nude is a creamy nude shade that can be applied as a liner, worn in the waterline to brighten the eye or I even use it as a brow highlighter/shaper.
Onto my favourite product of the bunch, the Dual Brow Perfect in Dynasty. This is an angled brow pencil that is a little difficult to use at first but you get used to it. The shape allows you to sharply define your brows with the thin part of the pencil but also fill them in really quickly with thicker part of the pencil. The Dynasty colour is perfect for medium cool toned brows and the pencil is budge proof. THEN you have a slightly tinted brow gel at the other end of the pencil which allows you to brush through your brows and set the hairs to keep them in place all day. The gel is lightly tinted so it doesn't deposit much additional colour to the brows, but it doesn't set slightly white like other clear gels I have used.
Lastly I have been testing out the Eye Of Horus Goddess Mascara which comes in black and brown. I have the black one which I really like for an every day makeup look. It has a very spiky rubber brush which prevents clumping and is great at lengthening lashes. I prefer more volume when I am going out or wearing bolder makeup, but this was great on a daily basis and it lasted all day. I will do a mascara post very soon where I compare this to other mascaras I have been testing out.
