Dusty Girls Makeup

I was recently (well, maybe a good 6 weeks ago now) invited to a MooGoo Skincare and Dusty Girls Makeup brunch and I was given the opportunity to test out a few of their products. Now, I have been super absent on my blog lately and will strive write more blog posts in the near future, but life is a little hectic at the moment and often the blog is the thing that gets neglected first. When I get my act together I will do a review of the MooGoo Skincare that I have been trying (because I have really been liking it) and I am planning on doing a full face vegan makeup video which will no doubt heavily feature Dusty Girls Makeup, for now I am doing a quick review of the products that I have been using the most from the range - the eyeshadows, blushes and bronzer.

Dusty Girls Makeup is made by the same people who create MooGoo Skincare and it is a vegan, cruelty free, mineral makeup range that is designed to be a healthy makeup alternative that is good for your skin.

Oh before I continue I do want to mention that I am in love with the Dusty Girls Earth Cream and their Natural Mineral Foundation (I use the Earth Cream as a bb cream and set it with the mineral foundation) and I am OBSESSED with how it looks and wears on the skin. It provides good coverage, is comfortable, but most amazingly it makes my oily skin look dewy at the end of the day instead of having my makeup break down completely in the t-zone. The only reason I am not going to focus on that today is because I would love to demonstrate the combo but the shades that I have are a little too dark for my untanned winter skin.

There are four shades of the Natural Mineral Eyeshadows ($15.50 each) in the range and I think for a small capsule of eyeshadow shades, these are very wearable, are very universal and are a great starting point to an eyeshadow collection. Dark Cacao is a deep burnt red brown shade with a slight gold sparkle, Summer Tan is a perfect warm taupe (my perfect all over the lid shade), Paper Bark is a light peachy pink shade with a soft gold shift, and Going Buff is a satin cream shade with a slight pink shift. The formula is soft, blendable, pigmented and really lovely to work with. I can easily use one shade as a soft wash all over the lid or all shades to create a more complete look.

My next favourite product are the face powders. There are two blushes and a bronzer in the range, each retail for $25 and contain a very generous 15g of product. The formula is pigmented but very blendable so you can easily sweet a small amount onto the cheeks for a subtle look or you can build it up if needed. Pink Ladies is a soft pink with a slight shimmer to it and Golden Delicious (my favourite) is a rosy bronze with a satin finish that gives the skin a glow without the shimmer - I love this shade because it can work as a bronzer/blush in one. Lastly we ave the bronzer in Sunshine which is a warm bronzer with a slight shimmer. This is very pigmented and warm, so it is great at blending lightly over the face to warm up the skin, but it would mainly be suited for medium to deeper skin tones.

Overall I can happily say that these products have worked themselves into my daily makeup routine (which says a lot). I feel happier knowing that I can wear makeup that is not only good for my skin but performs as well as some of my most loved makeup products. I think the price point is great, the packaging is great, the products are lovely, and I will love to see these ranges expanding to more shades in the future.

If you want to check out any of the Dusty Girls Makeup or MooGoo Skincare then check out the sites and feel free to use the code "JOINTHEHERD" for 15% off your order until the end of this month.

Note: these products were given to me as a press sample. My review is 100% my own opinion

  1. I've been hearing some great things about Dusty Girls makeup, it really sounds delightful! Such a huge amount of product in the face powders! But it looks like they have a great selection of wearable shades :)

    Tasha // shiwashiful.

  2. I have been using the earth cream and the mineral makeup combo too and are really enjoying them. (The mineral makeup is the standout for me). Would love to try some of their other products. So good to see quality vegan makeup being produced locally.

  3. I have heard a bit about this brand before and they really do look like stunning products!
