HoMedics Duo Pro

May 31, 2016

I was lucky enough to be sent a HoMedics Duo Pro IPL Professional Hair Reduction and Skin Rejuvenation System for review and I wanted to tell you all about it. Mind you, I have only had this system for around a month so I don't have any crazy amazing results to share, but I think I might do a follow up post in a few months time where I use this weekly on one leg and not the other to see the results. If you would like to see a follow up post like that then let me know in the comments!

The Duo Pro system serves two purposes. The first is the Intense Pulse Light (IPL) feature which prevents the regrowth of hair over time and is a long term hair reduction method. The second is a skin rejuvenation system which stimulated the production of collagen in the skin which over time reduces wrinkles and makes the skin appear brighter and smoother.

The way you switch between each feature is by changing the cartridges. The two cartridges that are yellow are for the IPL and the one that has a blue and orange colour to it is for the skin rejuvenation. There is an in depth instruction manual which explains how to use each feature.

Being such high tech device this pack isn't cheap and it retails for around the $500 in Australia. However you do get a 120 day money back guarantee and you also get a 2 year warranty. The cartridges also last up to 300,000 pulses but they are also replaceable. You can buy the replacement cartridges at the HoMedics website and you can also buy the packs at The Shaver Shop or Myer.

This pack contains:

  • The device and powder cord
  • Instruction booklet
  • Three cartridges - one for IPL on the body, one for IPL on the face and one for skin rejuvenation
  • Goggles
I did a below talking about the HoMedics Duo Pro and demonstrating how to use it. Once again, I don't have any crazy before and after photos to show you since I have only been using it for a few weeks but I will definitely do a follow up post.

So far I haven't had any issues with the device but I do recommend reading the instructions thoroughly before you start to use it. The pulses don't hurt but they do feel a little warm and I have heard that you can hear a bit of a zap sound as well.

My biggest negative about this device (which is not a huge negative) is that it does take some time to use (if you are efficient you can do a whole leg in about 15min) and you also need to use it on clean shaved skin (no moisturiser or deodorant) so I do struggle finding the perfect window of opportunity to use this. Of course when you look at the time comparison to a salon IPL treatment, this doesn't take much longer as the salon visits can take up to 40min (plus the time it takes to get there, wait for your session, and get home) also you do need to have clean and shaven skin for the session. I recommend setting aside time to use the Duo Pro and treat it like a weekly salon visit.

I mainly recommend this to people who find themselves spending a lot of money each year on hair removal or to people who hair removal in comfort of their own home.

Have you used this system? What were your thoughts?

Note: this product was sent to me as a press sample. My review is 100% my own opinion
