January 2016 has already wrapped up and it was an interesting month with new releases, the hangover from Christmas collections and the result of watching countless top products of 2015 videos.
This month was very palette heavy with both the Kat Von D Shade and Light (Contour and Eye Contour) Palettes and the Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani Eye Shadow Palette standing out as favourites. I won't talk in too much detail about these palettes because I have done in depth reviews on each of them, but the Kat Von D Shade palettes are phenomenal palettes to have in your collection because the eye shadow palette provide you with good quality matte shades that you will need in most eye looks and the contour palette works amazingly well at sculpting the face and will work across many skin tones. The UD Gwen Stefani palette is a very beautiful palette that can create some very wearable and fun looks (the shade Danger gives me life!). This palette isn't as versatile as the Kat Von D Shade and Light Eye Contour Palette but it's still beautiful.

My lip products of choice this month were Touch of Spice and Divine Wine from the Maybelline Creamy Matte collection. Touch of Spice is the perfect deep nude and is a dupe for MAC's Twig lipstick and Divine Wine is a super flattering deep red wine shade that is a dupe for MAC's Diva lipstick. Both these shades are beautiful on the lips, are comfortable and last a long time. Then we have three of the limited edition Tarte LipSurgence Balms from the Holidayz Lips for Daze holiday set. This set was great value for money and I was surprised at how wearable and beautiful these shades are. They also last for hours on the lips and have become handbag staples. See swatches below.

The highlighter that I have been reaching for the most in January is the NARS Albatross which is a beautiful highlighter that looks white in the pan but gives a yellow gold sheen to the skin. I forgot how much I love this until I Talia from Glossy Confidential mentioned this as one of her top 5 highlighters. Swatch in the photo above.
I caved and bought the Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder after seeing so many people rave about it in their top products of 2015. If you have oilier skin then you will love this because it sets your foundation very well but it also looks smoothing on the skin. It's not a cheap product at $56 in Australia but it contains 29g of product which will last you years!
My favourite fragrance of the month is the DKNY Be Desired which shares the apple scent as the original DKNY Be Delicious, but Be Desires is more fresh and zesty and has been perfect for the summer weather.
Lastly is my skincare favourite. The Dermalogica Clear Start Hydrating Lotion is a beautiful light moisturiser that has a soft fresh lemon scent and works wonders at keeping your skin hydrated without over saturating your skin - which is once again great for the warmer weather. This Clear Start range is designed to prevent breakouts and problem skin and I will review this lotion in more detail together with the night treatment shortly.
Those are my favourite products of January 2016, what are yours?
