September 2015 Favourites

It's October! When did that happen?!

The year is nearly over, but it means another favourites post! I have tried a lot of products in September, but these are the stand outs.

I actually totally forgot to include the eyeshadows that I have been rediscovering this month... if you want to see more about them, check out my favourites video below:

Onto the products I did remember to take photos of..

MAC Prep + Prime Fix+: I was never a big fan of finishing sprays but lately I have been really loving them. I normally wear really matte and long wearing base products which can often look caky and powdery. Spraying your makeup with a finishing spray doesn't make your makeup last longer, but it takes away that caky finish and makes it look more natural. The lovely Simon from The Skincare Obsessive gave me the MAC Fix + because he wasn't a big fan... and I love it! It's refreshing and smells amazing (I think it almost has a lemonade scent) and it really does take away that horrible caky look and it makes your makeup look a lot more fresh.

There are two moisturisers that I have been loving and the first is the Skin Doctors Beetox which is a beautiful anti-ageing moisturiser that contains bee venom to help collagen production AND it smells like pink marshmallows, do I need to say anything more? The second is the Philosophy Renewed Hope In A Jar Dry, and even though I don't have dry skin, I find that this works beautifully because its hydrating and thick yet it feels really light. This is a fantastic basic moisturiser that doesn't have a scent but it lovely to use.

Thin Lizzy 6 in 1 Professional Powder - I never in a million years thought that I would try this product, but I was sent it as part of the Priceline Beauty Click Box and I actually love it as a contour/bronzer. I did do a video review where I talk about how it really isn't great for 6 uses, BUT it is a much more affordable dupe for NARS Laguna Bronzer! Check out the video review below and also watch photos. The Thin Lizzy is a little lighter and slightly more shimmery than NARS Laguna, but they look very similar on the skin.

The Lush Big Sea Salt Shampoo - This is a super weird product. It is a shampoo that looks like a tub of salty sludge. This shampoo doesn't really foam on dirty hair so its best to use this as a second shampoo, but when you do use it it cleans your hair really thoroughly, and leaves it soft and volumised. I had issues with annoying product build up and I believe this shampoo really helped fix it. I now use this once a week as a clarifying shampoo.

It's spring so I have been loving some bright nails. The two shades that I have been loving are Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in 340 Mint Sorbet and Kester Black Monarch. Mint Sorbet is a beautiful pastel shade that will look amazing with a tan and Monarch is a beautiful dark cobalt blue that is a really eye catching shade.

The Jojoba Company's Purifying Citrus Foaming Cleanser - This is my favourite cleaner of the month. It is a gentle gel cleanser that feels really clean and fresh (great for the warmer months) and it has the most amazing citrus scent that reminds me of the Burts Bees lemon cuticle butter... mmmm.

Clarins Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster Body - I have been using this on my face and body to turn my moisturisers and body lotions into gradual tanners. The reason why I have been loving it is because I find that often the skincare used in gradual tanners (especially face tanners) isn't the best quality and I don't reach for them often. I can add this into my favourite moisturisers/serums/oils and to turn them into a gradual tanner so its fab! I did a full review here.

L'Oreal Brow Artist Genius Kit in Medium to Dark - I have been trying a few drugstore brow products this month and this is definitely my pick of the bunch. Not only is the packaging great quality with a nice sized mirror and decent quality tools, but the colour of the wax and powder are beautifully cool toned and match my brows perfectly. This kit rivals higher end brow kits, I have noticed that most drugstore brow products tend to be too warm toned.

  2. I actually secretly love Thin Lizzy powder too haha :) I would have never thought to try it either, but went into priceline desperate for a pale skinned mineral powder. I will definitely be trying the darker shade as a bronzer!
