Ok! I was sent this 1000 Hour Xpress Lash-Gro Eyeliner aaaages ago to trial and review, and after trailing I was a little underwhelmed with the results so the review was put on the backburner because I wasn't excited to write it. After looking at random photos I have been storing on my computer, I decided that this does deserve a review... so here we go!
This product is a liquid liner that comes in black and brown and retails for $29.99 for 3.5ml on the 1000 Hour website. This liners big claim is that it grows fuller, thicker and longer looking lashes in 60 days.
Now I used this every day (besides a couple no makeup days) for 60+ days and initially I thought my lashes looked longer, but when I compared the before and after photos after the 60 day period I couldn't see any difference in my lash thickness and length. I didn't bother adding in the photos to this post, because they showed no difference and they were just ugly photos of my eye with no makeup on.
The only way I thought I could be applying this wrong is because I applied it over primer and eyeshadow and it does recommend to apply this to clean and dry eyes. Was that the thing that prevented this from working? Who knows!
So this review sounds initially all doom and gloom... but there's a silver lining!
This is the packaging of the product and initially I thought the 'pot' part of the packaging was made out of a black plastic... it's not! The packaging is actually clear and the black is from the liner. If you have used a liquid liner before (such as the Maybelline Master Precise which contains 0.5g of product) you may be thinking "wow, that's a lot of liner!" ...and yes, it is. This liner contains a whopping 3.5ml of product which will literally last you a year of every day use. After 60 days of use I could see a small reduction in the amount of product in the packaging.
The applicator is very thin brush that's also very flimsy. It took me a while to get the hang of using it, but when I did, I found that it was great at applying a nice thin line. I do think this applicator could be improved by making it shorter and slightly more sturdy, but if you are used to applying liquid liner then you can adapt pretty quickly.
The product itself is really nice. It is a thin liquid that is very pigmented, sets pretty quickly, sets matte (which is quite rare for a 'drugstore' liner), and lasts on the eyes all day. This isn't waterproof, but it is budge proof.
So I personally didn't see changes in my lashes after 60 days of use, which initially was quite disheartening, but looking back I really did enjoy using this liner! I wouldn't say run out and buy this because you will see amazing results, but if you are sick of liquid liners that dry out after a month of use (I'm looking at you Maybelline HyperSharp Wing Liquid Liner!), you want a decent liner with good pigmentation, is matte, is budge proof, AND there is a chance that it is good for your lashes... then I recommend trying this liner! The brush will take a while getting used to, but it is a decent product! I definitely need start using this again!
You can buy 1000 Hour products in Priceline and Chemist Warehouse, but I haven't seen this liner in store yet. You can definitely get it on the 1000 Hour website though, or you can contract them to see where you can get it in store.
Have you tried this? Did it work for you?
