Urban Decay Moondust in Zodiac - review and swatches

On a whim I decided to splurge and try out the Urban Decay Moondust Shadow in the shade Zodiac. These are highly sparkly shadows that contain "3D glitter". There are 8 shades available in Australia, but 15 shades in the US. You can buy these in Australia at Mecca Maxima or the Mecca website. These contain 1.5g of product and retail in Australia for $30 each and in the US for $20 each.

Even though these are pretty pricey, do keep in mind that the regular single Urban Decay shadows retail for $28 each in Australia.

The packaging is a silver plastic with a clear window in the lid and beautiful metallic detailing on the face. You can also depot the shadows to insert it into one of the Urban Decay build your own palettes.

The colour is described as a smokey black base with blue-green duotone shift and blue-green 3D glitter. You can see in the photos above that it is a super sparkly shadow with very complex blue and green shimmer.

Do note that this particular shade has a bold base colour but some of the other Moondust shades are primarily coloured glitter with no base colour.

You can see from the swatches above that the base is a blackened green, but in the light it looks like pure green/blue glitter The shadow itself is very pigmented (the photos above are without a primer and are one swipe of the shadow) and if you pack it on the lid with your finger or a wet brush you get the same effect as in the swatch above. However, if you apply it with a fluffy brush then it doesn't apply as boldly and it does create a lot of fallout. This does last on the lid all day but to prevent any creasing or fading then definitely apply it over an eyeshadow base.

If you are after an impressive glittery shadow then I do highly recommend these Urban Decay Moondust shadows!
