Top Winter Lip Colours

Hey lovelies! It is smack bang in the middle of winter at the moment and it is super super cold! I thought it's the perfect time to quickly mention some of my tip winter lip colours.

For me winter is the time of the year to reach for the mauve nudes, cool toned reds and berry shades. These shades tend to suit a range of skin tones but I think they look best on natural/non-tanned skin. They also compliment the darker and heavier clothing and fashion that we tend to wear more of in winter. I love using these shades as a bold statement lip paired with a simple base (no bronzer, very little contour/blush) and a very simple nude eye and black winged liner.

Laura Mercier Creme Smooth Lip Colour in Dry Rose - This a really beautiful nude pinky plum that would suit most people. In one layer it's not completely opaque so your natural lip comes through a rosy plum hue. However you can build this up to look more or a darker dusty plum. This the type of lipstick that you can throw on and not worry about it wearing off unevenly or looking too unnatural. I believe these lipsticks retail in Australia for around $35 from David Jones.

Laura Mercier Paint Wash Liquid Lipstick in Rosewood - This is an amazing liquid lipstick! It is more brown than the previous shade, and it is more opaque and bold. The finish is similar to a regular cream finish lipstick (not too matte, not too shiny, no shimmer) but it does settle to more of a matte finish after a few hours wear. This is a really pretty rosy mauve version of the mid toned nude lip trend. These retail in Australia for $35 from David Jones.

NARS Audacious Lipstick in Rita - If you are looking for a true blue toned red then look no further than Rita by NARS. All of the Audacious lipsticks have an amazing creamy and highly pigmented finish, and this particular shade is that perfect bright blue toned red shade that is a must for winter. NARS Audacious Lipsticks retail for $47 in Australia from Mecca.

NYX Extra Creamy Lipstick in Snow White - If you are looking for something a little more deeper and glossier (and much more affordable) then check out NYX Snow White. This is a keep cool toned dark cherry red that gives a slightly glossy finish on the lips. You can buy this from Target in Australia for $8.95.

Arbonne Glossed Over Lip Gloss in Hyacinth - This is a great addition to any cool toned lip collection. It is a very shiny and long wearing berry lip gloss that gives the lips a beautiful berry tint or layers well over a red/berry lipstick to add a bit more depth and shine. This also has very fine shimmer that adds an extra level of shine to the lips. This retails in Australia for $37 from Arbonne.

MAC Matte Lipstick in Diva - If you want a true dark berry lip then MAC's Diva delivers a matte wine shade that would suit any skin tone. You could also dab this lightly onto the lips to create a berry tint. This retails for $36 in Australia at MAC Cosmetics.

  1. It's the middle of Summer here in Toronto, but I have been loving deep, vampy lips lately! NARS Rita really is a stunning shade and if you like tones like this, you should also check out MAC Viva Glam III :)
