NEW Clarins Launches: Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster and Instant Light Lip Comfort Oils

July 22, 2015

I am always excited when new products are launched but I was particularly excited to receive these new Clarins products for review because a) they look divine, b) they are innovative new products (in my opinion), c) I haven't use many Clarins products before and d) the lip oils haven't even been released yet! Yeee!

The new products from Clarins are the Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster Body and the Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil in 01 Honey and 02 Raspberry (limited edition).

You can buy Clarins in store from Myer or David Jones.

The Clarins Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster Body was released on 6 July 2015 and is a follow up to the award winning Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster Face. This is a little gorgeous vile of amber liquid that you add into your regular body lotion to turn it into a gradual tan. It contains 30ml of product and retails for $42 in Australia. This bottle does look small but you use 4-6 drops per application so it should last a long time and work out to be pretty good value.

I love this concept because I often have a body lotion that I love that either doesn't come in a self tanning version, or I don't like the tanning version... or sometimes I would like to add an extra boost to my gradual tanner! This little magical vile fixes that problem and also has gorgeous packaging that I would be proud to display in any bathroom!

The directions are very simple, you dispense some of your regular body lotion into your hand and then dispense 4-6 drops of the Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster into the lotion, mix it together and then apply it to you body. The way the product dispenses is also very smart. You can see in the photo below that there is a very small opening at the top, but the liquid doesn't drop or pour out of it automatically, instead you need to press on the bottom of the packaging and it dispenses one drop at a time. This allows for greater accuracy and less mess.

I have been using this over the last couple of weeks and have noticed that this is definitely more of a gradual tan instead of being a very dark instant tan. The tan looks very natural, very even, and has very minimal scent. This is a great option for someone who loves a light gradual tan, but doesn't want to compromise the quality of their body lotion that they use on a daily basis. If you are looking for a stronger tan you could also apply this into a gradual tanner to add an extra tanning boost.

Now for the Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil in 01 Honey and 02 Raspberry that are launching in Australia on 10 August 2015. These contain 7g of product each and will be retailing for $33.

Before I say anything further I want to make a public service announcement to say that 02 Raspberry is a limited edition oil. If you were considering getting a lip oil and you like any berry scent then I highly recommend you jumping on this before it's gone because it smells amazing!

The formula of these lip oils are less like a thin slippery oil (which is what I was expecting) and more like a very thick gloss with a high shine finish and the moisturising properties of an oil. As they are quite thick, they have a slight sticky feel on the lip but they provide hours and hours of hydration and they leave your lips feeling amazing. The only thing that is stopping me from using these as my night lip treatment is that they are very glossy and may transfer onto sheets (maybe that's just my paranoia)... also I may as well use them during the day when people can see my epically plump and glossy lips.

Before I talk about each shade individually, I thought I should mention that the packaging of these oils is beautiful. They come in a clear plastic squared tube with a gold lid and lettering. Even though these are made of plastic, they look like glass but aren't as heavy or as fragile as glass. You can see the colour of the oil though the packaging so you can easily see which one you are reaching for and how much you have left. The applicator is very strange and can take a little while to get used to. It is a very large, almost spoon shaped, doe foot applicator that deposits the perfect amount of product onto the lips, but can feel a little clumsy on the first few applications using this.

Oh! One last quick note about the packaging - since you can see the product through the tube, if you start applying this over other lip products the oil can start looking a little Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch (aka funky) after a while. If I am going to apply this over a coloured lip product I will apply the oil with my finger instead of the applicator.

You can see from the lip swatches above that both of the oils are very glossy and give a very plump and hydrated look to the lips. You will also notice that even though one oil looks very yellow and the other looks very dark pink in the bottles, they look quite similar on the lips... there is only a hint of yellow with shade 01 and shade 02 has a very very slight pink tint (you can see the colour difference in the arm swatches below).
The main difference in the shades is that scent. 01 Honey has a sweet, almost floral rosy, scent to it that reminds me a lot a vanilla Turkish delight. This scent is quite unique but isn't offensive. 02 Raspberry has a delicious raspberry jelly or cordial scent to it that I love!

Those are my thoughts on the new products launching from Clarins. What are your thoughts? Will you be checking any of these out?

  1. Great reviews! Is it bad when the Honey version looks like ear wax on a cotton bud?? Ewwww, sorry about the terrible imagery that may conjure up. That aside, I'd love to try them :)

    1. hahahaha! that's a great observation!

  2. I want to for sure pick some up ASAP! I love Clarins in general. Thank you for sharing.

    1. check out the raspberry one *drools*

  3. I want to try the raspberry one but I can only locate the honey one. Bah. But perhaps there isn't enough of a colour difference to matter?
