June Favourites 2015
July 2, 2015
Hey friends! How was your June? Personally I was not a fan of June, nothing great happened and it's been so cold! BUT July is a new month and hopefully it will be awesome! I do have a few favourite products to share (one I have forgotten to mention but hopefully I will remember for my July favourites).
Lets start with skincare and tools...
Arbonne Clear Control Clarifying Blemish Toner and Wash: I was send this whole range from Arbonne to trial and I have been really impressed with the gel cleanser and toner in particular. This range is designed to control breakouts and spots (which I annoyingly still get in my very late 20s), and even though I personally haven't seen any significant difference in my skin since using them, I have really enjoyed using them. I love that both these products were very effective at removing makeup and grime and left my skin feeling really fresh and clean. These contain salicylic acid and witch hazel, are alcohol free, don't dry out my skin, and smell minty. You can check out more details at the Arbonne website.
Wet Brush (in the colour Cool Tones Blue): My top tool of the month was definitely the Wet Brush! I hate brushing my hair because I have very wavy and tangly hair, but with the Wet Brush it literally only takes me a few seconds to brush out my tangles! I even preferred this over the Tangle Teezer because it has a handle (and not having a handle is my one pet peeve about the Tangle Teezer), it's half the price, and it doesn't feel as scratchy on the scalp as the Tangle Teezer. You can use this wet or dry and it detangled my hair really quickly! I did a full review here.
PuraSonic (in the colour Lovely Lilac): I was sent this to review as part of the Beauty Directory Expert Panel and I love it! This is pretty much the same as a Clarisonic (I used to have a Clarisonic Mia before it broke), but it is heaps cheaper, has more features, comes with an extra brush head and a stand, and the charge lasts a lot longer. Sonic cleansing brushes help cleanse your skin better, clear out pores, minimise pores, improve skin texture and minimise breakouts. They are a great tool to have (especially if you wear a full face of makeup every day), but they are often super expensive. I highly recommend the PuraSonic and it's only $99. I did a full review here.
Antipodes Grace Gentle Cream Cleanser: Leading on from the PuraSonic, I thought I would mention that my favourite cleanser to use with it is the Antipodes Grace Gentle Cream Cleanser. This is my favourite cream cleanser I have ever used! Normally I find that cream cleansers don't remove oil and makeup very well and they tend to leave a film on the skin, this one doesn't do either of those things. I using a cream cleanser with the PuraSonic feels a lot more gentle on the skin as the cream texture almost acts like a lubricant for the brush.
Prestige Total Intensity Liner in Daring Green: I have been on the hunt for a pigmented, creamy, budge proof wearable green liner that I could use on my waterline to add a hint of colour to my normal nude eye look (and to enhance brown eyes). I was looking around Priceline and came across the Prestige stand and I fell in love with this Daring Green liner (see swatch in the next photo). It is a beautiful metallic forest green/olive shade that ticks all of the boxes I wanted - pigmented, creamy, waterproof. Because this is so creamy you can also blend this out on the lash line for a smokey eye and I have been finding myself using it a lot on the lower lash line. It was only $14.95 and they have a nice range of blues, greens and purple liners in this formula. I will definitely go back to pick up some more! Check them out at Priceline.
1000 Hour Lashes Xpress Lash-Gro Eyeliner in Black: On the top lash line I have been using this liquid liner all month. This is the only liner I have been using on the top lash line because it contains a lash serum that is designed to help your lashes grow! How amazing is that idea! So I have set myself a goal to use this liner for a couple of months and see if my lashes in fact grow. I have been wearing this every day (besides one or two no makeup days) and I have fallen in love with the formula! It is super black (see swatch below), is very matte, doesn't flake or wear off, is budge proof and looks flawless all day. The only negative is that the brush is quite thin and flimsy and can take some time to get used to. I do think my lashes are a little bit longer, but I will compare them in a month or so to the before photos I took.
Nuxe Reve De Miel Lip Balm: I wanted to mention this lip balm because it is like my best friend! I use this as my night time lip balm (one tub lasted me a year) and when I had finished up my last tub I missed it so much that I had to get a new one straight away... even though I have hundreds of other lip balms that I need to use up. These now come in limited edition 20 year anniversary packaging so you can get them with a teal lid (like mine), a yellow lid or a pinky coral lid. If you want a good night time lip treatment, definitely check out Nuxe Reve De Miel... they are $19.95 but they last for ages, and they often go on sale at Priceline.
Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Pearl: This is probably my all time favourite makeup product of the month! It is a liquid highlighter that gives the skin the most amazing wet shiny glow without looking over the top or glittery. The swatch above shows the colour when it hasn't been blended out but I will definitely do a full review with better photos shortly (I am tossing up whether to buy another shade before before I do a full review). You can apply this over foundation as a highlight or mix it in with foundation to add some illumination. The only downside is that it retails for $66 in Australia, but it contains 30ml and you use the tiniest amount each application... it will literally last years and years. It is DEFINITELY worth the splurge!
Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear in Brick Wall and Pacific Blue (old formula): The two nail polishes I have been loving this month are Brick Wall, which is a dark buildable red - the more coats you apply the deeper and more berry it looks. It is just a great basic winter red. The second is Pacific Blue which is my favourite blue nail polish of all time as it is a perfect bright blue that also has a cornflower blue/purple hint to it. It is perfect! BUT sadly I have recently realised that it has been reformulated and what now is Pacific Blue is a shimmery darker translucent blue which is a huge shame! Shame on you Sally Hansen!
That's what I have been loving in June. What was your favourite beauty product of the month?
