Colour Theory Nautical But Nice Collection
May 4, 2015
Hey friends! I thought I would share a sample of the Colour Theory Autumn/Winter Nautical But Nice Collection.
I thought I would share this because I love the concept of this collection (who doesn't like the combo of red lips and navy?) and Colour Theory is a really great affordable makeup range... I need to start featuring more affordable makeup on my blog (especially since I might be a full time student in the near future).
You can find Colour Theory only at Amcal and Guardian Pharmacy.
The new Nautical But Nice Collection contains lipsticks, nail polishes, an eyeshadow palette, a waterproof mascara, a primer and a blue eyeliner.
I was lucky enough to be sent the whole range of the lipsticks from this collection. There is (l-r) Coral Reef, Abandon Ship, Love Boat and Ahoy Sailor! These retail for $6 each!
My favourite shade is Ahoy Sailor! which is the top shade in the photo above. This isn't a matte lipstick, but it has a semi matte (non shiny finish) and it is a smooth bold blue toned raspberry red. This is the perfect winter red!
The shade below that is Love Boat which is a sheer blue toned red with a lot of glitter. This isn't really my type of lipstick, but it does look a lot nice on the lips than it does in the swatch. The glitter is a little chunky.
My second favourite shade is the Abandon Ship shade. This is a dark coral with very fine shimmer that gives this a more metallic finish. I think the bright dark coral is a really lovely colour, I just wish it was less metallic looking because that finish can be hard to pull off.
My least favourite is Coral Reef which is a light peachy orange cream shade. This swatches nicely but applies quite patchy on the lips.
I also received the nail polish in the shade Isle Of Red and I am obsessed with this shade! This is a beautiful wine red shade and it is my perfect winter red. I don't think I have a dark red that I love as much as this, I just wish that the staying power was a little better. With a decent top coat this lasted 3-4 days with minor chipping. This is super affordable at $4.
Lastly I tried the Waterproof Mascara. I am not a waterproof mascara wearer normally, but I really did like this mascara. What I loved most was that the brush really grips onto my lashes which really helps coat the lashes thoroughly. One coat gave length and separation, but you could build it up for more volume. I did find that this was quite difficult to remove so this won't be a daily mascara for me, but it is a really great affordable waterproof mascara. This retails for $8.
Have you tried Colour Theory? What do you think of the Nautical But Nice Collection?
