Bare Minerals Eyeshadow Quads in The Dream Sequence and The Happy Place - Review and Swatches

I can't believe I have never mentioned Bare Minerals on my blog until now!

Towards the end of last year I bought my first Bare Minerals eyeshadow quad and I recently was given another one for my birthday from my lovely bestie Kylie!

The two palettes I have are The Dream Sequence and The Happy Place. Both of these palettes are permanent and you can buy them from Mecca Cosmetica, Mecca Maxima, Kit Cosmetics and of course the Mecca website. They retail for $39 each and contain a total of 5g of product.

The packaging is sleek rubberised black plastic (similar to the finish of NARS packaging) with a simple Bare Minerals logo on the top and the shades names on the bottom. Inside the palette there is a good sized mirror and a double sided sponge tip applicator (which is a little unnecessary). The packaging also has a clip type closure which is quite sturdy.

The Dream Sequence:

500 Thread Count: This is a slightly pink toned off white that looks matte on the skin but has a slight satin finish to it. Very pigmented and buttery and a perfect brow bone highlight.

Romp: This is the shade that made me want to buy the palette. The pigmentation is incredible (yes the swatch is one swipe over bare skin). This this a metallic mauve taupe that would suit people who like cooler silver toned eyeshadows. Disappointingly, this shade doesn't suit my colouring and I wish it was slightly warmer toned, but the quality of this shadow is second to none!

Boudoir: This is a crazy impressive colour. It is a pink toned violet that has lovely pigmentation (which is rare for a purple eyeshadow) and it has a duo-chrome finish that flashes more of a blue toned purple. Very pretty shade, but it can look very clownish if you use it all over the eye. I recommend using this on the inner corner or the lower lash line or just dabbed on the centre on the lid to create a pop of colour.

Nightcap: When I first bought this palette I though this was the dud shade that I would never use, but it has become my favourite shade in the palette (and my favourite purple eyeshadow in general). This is a matte aubergine purple that doesn't have the same colour pay off as the other shades in the palette. I use this in the outer crease and it is the most amazing shade! It adds warmth without adding too much colour, it blends beautifully, you can start soft and build the colour, and it works for both warm and cool toned looks. I ADORE this shade!

The Happy Place:

Peace: This is a soft peachy orange nude that has a lovely satin finish. In the pan it looks quite matte, but it does have a beautiful glow to it. This is a great all over the lid shade for a no makeup look, or it also works great to blend out other shades. On deeper skin this could also be used as a brow bone highlight.

Imagine: This is the shade that made me want this palette! It is a very pigmented shimmery rosy copper and I am in love with it! This would work on all eye colours and is the perfect Autumn shade. This would also work really well as an accent shade.

Exhale: This is a crazy pigmented, smooth, even to apply matte shade and it is a in a really beautiful universal cool toned brown. This can work with any eye look to add some depth or you could even use it as an eyebrow shade. As this shade is so pigmented, you only need to apply a tiny amount at a time.

Euphoria: This is a beautiful warm dark bronze that almost looks purple toned in the pan, but at least on me it looks very brown. This also has crazy pigmentation and it applies smoothly and evenly. I have been loving this shade to smoke up a nude look.

OVER ALL
I love these palettes! The quality of the shadows are some of the best I have every tried. They are buttery, pigmented, apply smoothly, last a long time and are really easy to work with. I also quite like the packaging and I think the price point is quite reasonable. My only negative about Bare Minerals shadows in general is that you can only buy them in quads or duos and I always find myself wanting one or two shades from each pallet but rarely wanting them all. I would love to see Bare Minerals create customisable palettes because the range that they have is quite limiting. I honestly think if they had a bigger range and you could create your own palettes, these shadows could be more popular that MAC or NARS shadows.

Thanks so much for reading my review! Don't forget to check out my GIVEAWAY that closes in a week!

These colors are so up my ally i always lean towards the earth tones, find they work better than some colors out there. Those purples though are so pretty that romp color is different never seen that in a shadow before. Great post on a company really look over when I'm at Sephora !
