NEW Lush Solid Shampoo Bars - Montalbano, Jason And The Argan Oil, Copperhead, Honey I Washed My Hair and Braziliant
March 11, 2015
I was lucky enough to be sent the new range of solid shampoo bars from Lush.
These 5 new bars fit in nicely to the existing range of around 8 shampoo bars that are offered by Lush. If you want to take a peek at the whole range then check out the Lush website.
Along with the shower gels and lip balms, the solid shampoo bars were the first products that I tried from Lush back in the day. I remember a good 10-12 years ago my family went through a stage where we only used these solid shampoo bars for our shampoo.
These cost $13.95 each in Australia but each bar is said to last around 80 washes if you store them correctly. These do hold their shape very well and are a lot firmer than a traditional bar of soap, so if you keep it in a well drained and dry place then they should last you a long time. Since these are so compact they make for a perfect travel shampoo and you can even buy a tin to store them in. My only pet peeve about these (and bar soaps as well) is that when they are nearly finished they can break up which makes the last uses of them a little annoying.
I want to clarify that in the last week or so I have only been using the Jason And The Argan Oil shampoo bar. I will be briefly mentioning the other bars, but my experiences are based on Jason And The Argan Oil bar.
What I have been loving most about using the solid shampoo bar is the results. I have been using this without any conditioner (which is fine for my above shoulder length uncoloured hair, but might not be recommended for damaged or long hair) and I have noticed that it adds a lot of weightlessness, softness and shine. I originally wanted to try this without conditioner to see if it can be used as a stand alone product, and since then I haven't bothered following it up with conditioner because I love the effect it has on its own. Normally my hair can be quite limp, especially at the roots, and this has added a weightlessness and shine that I rarely experience with a regular shampoo. Of course old habbits die hard and I will probably use a conditioner every so often as a treatment, but at least with the Jason And The Argan Oil shampoo bar, I find that it is conditioning enough to act as a stand alone product. Lastly, what I was impressed with was that you need the smallest amount to work up a really nice lather, so I'm not sure if it will last 80 washes but it will last a long time.
Let's get into some of the details of the individual bars.
Montalbano: A very citrusy shampoo that contains lemon oil, olives, rosemary and popping candy. This is designed to leave your hair squeaky clean and shiny.
Jason And The Argan Oil: This is the one I was most excited about! It has the same scent as the Rose Jam Shower Gel and Ro's Argan Oil Body Conditioner. This is an all rounder bar designed to make your hair stronger, shinier and softer.
Copperhead: This is the earthiest scented bar and it contains coffee and henna. This doesn't colour your hair, but it is designed for coloured hair because it brings out the tones in dark coloured hair.
Honey I Washed My Hair: *Drools* this smells a-ma-zing! This has the same honey/toffee sweet scent as the Honey I washed The Kids Soap (which I adore). This is designed to leave your hair feeling soft and shiny... and of course smelling delicious.
Braziliant: This is designed to strengthen and condition the hair and contains orange oil and andiroba oil. This has a hint of sweet orange mixed with herbal woody scent.
Overall I am really happy to see more of the Solid Shampoo Bars added to the Lush range. I am particularly excited to see some of my favourite Lush scents (rose jam/honey I washed the kids) in a shampoo form.
