Another month down... where did 2014 go?!
I always look forward to writing these favourites posts because I find it really fun looking back on all the makeup and beauty products that I have been loving (is that really sad?).
Aaaaaaanyway, as you can see from the above photo, I have been loving a mixture of makeup, hair care and skincare this month... but strangely no lip products or nail polish (:o oh my glob!).
(ps I did a long favourites and fails video...)
Lets start with the haircare! I have been loving the Kérastase Discipline Bain Fluidealiste Smooth-in-motion Shampoo and Discipline Fondant Fluidealiste Smooth-in-motion Care (aka conditioner). I don't normally feature much hair care because, to be honest, I don't use much. I have recently finished up the few shampoos and conditioners that I had in my shower (yes, I often have 2-3 bottles of shampoo and conditioner on the go at any one time) and I was excited to try a few new things. This range from Kerastase is designed to help smooth frizzy hair, and I never realised how frizzy my hair was until I started using these products. Normally I can't use de-frizzing styling products because they weigh down my hair and make my hair look greasy and too limp, but this shampoo and conditioner helps make my hair that little bit more smoother without any negative side effects. I definitely notice the difference in styling when I wash my hair with these versus a regular shampoo and conditioner that I have in my shower.
Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturiser in Light to Medium: Summer is here, which means the stockings and pants are put away and there is a lot of pasty white flesh on display. I am very lazy with maintaining a fake tan (unless there is an occasion coming up) so this gradual tanner by Jergens has been a god send for me! Firstly, I love the texture of the moisturiser - it is thick and luxurious without being greasy, and secondly, this is so gradual that it doesn't leave any streaks, tan marks or stained clothes so it's really easy to just slap on after a shower with no fuss. There is a darker version of this, but I find the light to medium is just enough to take that stark white glow from my legs that an office job (and a lack of holidays) has left me with. I did a full review here.
Antipodes Rejoice Light Facial Day Cream: I am throwing this in the favourites this month because I put this away for a few months (while I was trying use up some other skincare) and now that I have brought it back I have realised just how good it is (not that I didn't think highly of it previously). This is a thick and luxurious moisturiser (I see a theme) but it sinks into skin beautifully and doesn't leave me feeling at all greasy, which says a lot since I do have oily skin. If you are after a lovely basic hydrating day time moisturiser then I highly recommend this one... be warned that it does have a slight almond scent which may not be for everyone. I did a review of a few Antipodes products here.
Shu Uemura Red: Juvenus Vitalizing Concentrate and Renewing Night Cream: I don't want to talk about these too much since they are deluxe sample sizes that I got in a gift with purchase... but I did want to mention that I have been using this serum and night moisturiser for a few nights and my skin has been looking great! I am definitely going to be checking out more Shu Uemura skincare soon!
The Body Shop Glazed Apple Shower Gel: Every year The Body Shop bring out some awesome gift packs for Christmas and they always bring out a new scent. This years Christmas scent is Glazed Apple which has an amazing caramel apple scent with a hint of sourness. There are heaps of skincare products released with this scent, but my favourite product in this range is the shower gel. It smells amazing and I love how it makes my whole bathroom smell delicious.
Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette: I know this is an eyeshadow palette but I have been reaching for this a lot this month... but not as eyeshadows... DUN DUN DUNNN! I use the two matte brown shades for my eyebrows (I mix the two and use Naked 2 in the front of the brow and Faint more to the tail of the brow) and I have been swirling Venus (the only shimmery shade) and the two light matte shades on a fluffy brush as a face highlighter! Pretty much the only shade I never use is Crave. I did a full review with swatches here.
MAC Sweet Sentiment Mineralize Blush: I totally forgot to put this in the photo (whoops) but this is the blush I have been using this month. It is from the limited edition MAC Christmas collection (Hairloom Mix collection) and it is beautiful. It is smooth and easy to apply, is a lovely pink mauve shade, and has a beautiful sheen. See swatch and photos in my full review.
Laura Mericer Caviar Sticks in Amethyst and Moonlight: At the very start of November I bought the Laura Mercier Caviar Stick collection which contains 6 mini Caviar Sticks (see review with swatches here). The two shades I love the most are Amethyst (a metallic purple toned taupe nude) and Moonlight (a highly metallic silvery nude). Amethyst is beautiful all over the lid, especially for brown eyes, and Moonlight is a stunning pop of intense sheen for in inner corner of the eye.
NARS Charade Eyeshadow Duo: For the past few weeks I have mainly been using these two eyeshadows on their own or paired with one of the caviar sticks. These shades are a great alternative to a basic nude shade and they look great with brown eyes. I use the first shade all over the lid and the more purple shade in the crease.
Shu Uemura Liquid Eye Liner: This is a really cool concept, and even though I have only been using it for the last week, so far I love it. This is a very serious liquid eyeliner. You pretty much buy the liner packaging, or what I like to call the "pen", and you buy the liner cartridge, or what I like to call the "ink", and then you can just repurchase the ink refills when you run out. This is pretty much the fountain pen version of a liquid liner. The liner itself is very runny but it is nicely pigmented and it is very budge proof! It is water proof AND oil proof... so if you have oily eyelids then you might want to check this out. I will do a full review soon!
That's it! What were your beauty favourites of November?
