October 2014 Beauty Favourites

Welcome to my October favourites! This is where I get to share my most used and most loved beauty products throughout October! Let's jump right into it...

Firstly, if you can't be bothered reading through this post, I did do a video of my favourites on my YouTube channel:

I forgot to include the Lancome Grandiose mascara in the photo above, but you can see my full review here. The reason I have been loving it this month is because it's a very fast way to create a bold dramatic doll-like lash with a lot of volume and length. The only downside is that it clumps if you use a couple of coats, but I find that I have been reaching for this in the morning for easy and quick work makeup.

Marc Jacobs Pink Honey: We are well into Spring in Australia and we have had some pretty hot days. My favourite scent for this type of weather has been Marc Jacobs Pink Honey. The notes of the perfume are: top notes: pear, mandarin, middle notes: orange blossom, peach nectar, apricot, honeysuckle, base notes: honey, vanilla, smooth woods. For my uneducated nose, I tend to think that this has a fresh but sweet pink grapefruit type scent, which is perfect for warm weather.

Palmer's Cocoa Butter & Coconut Oil Natural Bronze Spray: I am not a fan of these spray moisturisers because they go everywhere and they make my bathroom tiles very slippery... also I think applying a normal moisturiser is just as easy as this silly spray that still requires rubbing in. The reason why I have listed this as a favourite is because I struggle getting fake tan all over my body evenly (I just can't reach all of the spots on my back!) so this works really well at evenly reaching every part of my body. This is also pretty light weight, gives a nice natural glow that you can build up over a couple of applications, and it doesn't have a funky fake tan scent.

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Peach Of Cake: OMG THIS IS MY FAVOURITE PEACH NAIL POLISH OF ALL TIME! Yes, I am so excited that I want to be obnoxious and type in caps. This is a new shade that has been brought out in the Spring Sally Hansen collection and it is a must have! It is a bright peach that makes your skin look nice and tanned. Ever since using this I have reapplied it 3 times (wearing it for around 3 weeks in a row) on my fingers and toes, which is very rare for me.

Jurlique Sun Specialist SPF 40 High Protection Cream: This is a lovely sunscreen that contains shea butter, to keep your skin hydrated, but also contains SPF of 40. What I love about this is that it takes sunscreen to a new level and takes a basic product and makes it feel thick and luxurious. Even though this is a thick and hydrating sunscreen, I found that it doesn't make my oily combination skin greasy, it doesn't disrupt my makeup, and it doesn't break me out. This is also quite affordable at $50 for 100ml (most other decent sunscreens cost around $30 for 50ml). I did a video and blog post on my top 3 daily suncreens.

Onto makeup...

Let's start with eyeliners.

I have been loving bright blue liner with a nude shadow and the two that are new and exciting this month are Revlon's Colorstay Skinny Liquid Liner in Electric Blue (which I am wearing in the video above) and Kryolan Cream Liner in Sky Blue. I will be doing a top 3 bright blue liner post shortly, but I am obsessed with the Revlon liner because it is amazingly bright and is perfect for a winged blue liner. I also love the Kryolan liner, which is a little lighter in colour than the Revlon liner, but I much prefer the formula and staying power of this Kryolan cream liner. As for a black gel liner, I have been using the Jane Iredale Jelly Jar Gel Eyeliner in Black which is a great pigmented gel liner that stays all day (even on the waterline) and is really easy to apply. I did a review of some Jane Iredale products here. Love love love! Swatches of the liners are below.

I think this is a good time to introduce my ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE PRODUCT OF OCTOBER... yep, this is another product worth using caps for! This is the much hyped Lorac Mega Pro Palette and it is probably my all time favourite palette of 2014! It has half mattes and half shimmers, the quality is amazing, but the best thing is the abundance of beautiful warm mid toned shades (which are my most used shades). Ever since buying this, it is the only palette that I have been reaching for. My favourite shades are Sienna, Camel, Sepia and Dusty Plum. Check out my blog post for a full review and swatches and my review video.

l-r: Revlon Colorstay Skinny Liquid Liner in Electric Blue, Kryolan Cream Liner in Sky Blue, Jane Iredale Jelly Jar Gel Eyeliner in Black, NARS Audacious Lipstick in Anna, MAC Rocky Horror Picture Show Collection Matte Lipstick in Strange Journey, and The Balm Instain Blush in Toile.

The two new lipsticks that I have been crazy for are the NARS Audacious Lipstick in Anna and MAC Rocky Horror Picture Show Collection Matte Lipstick in Strange Journey. The NARS Audacious lipsticks are amazing quality, so creamy, pigmented, and the magnetic packaging is to die for. They are a splurge, but they are definitely worth it! Anna is a unique mauve toned nude which is perfect for that dark nude trend. The MAC lipstick is a really comfortable matte formula that lasts ages without drying the lips (it reminds me a lot of MAC's Lady Danger). The shade is a beautiful orange toned brick red that gives a very vintage pin-up vibe.

Since a lot of the products that I mentioned this month are new, I decided to throw in an old favourite... the Benefit BrowZings in Light. I have mainly just been using the powder for when I want a really quick and natural work brow, and I used the tinted gel when I want a more sculpted look.

Lastly is my most used blush. This is The Balm Instain Blush in Toile and is it a very pigmented blush in a beautiful bright coral pink shade that lasts on your cheeks all day. I use the tiniest amount on a soft brush or a duo fiber brush and it creates a really natural coral pop to the cheeks. This will be my most used Spring/Summer blush for sure!

That's it! What were your favourite beauty products of October?
