June 2014 Favourites

July 4, 2014

I can't believe June is over! It only feels like last week was the start of June! Aaanyway it's favourites time, and I really do love this time of the month because I really enjoy hearing about other bloggers favourite products. I have decided to cap my favourites at 10 this month, because I usually go overboard.

Scünci Detangle Brush: This is similar to one of those Tangle Teaser brushes, but it is half the price ($14.95 instead of $29.95) and you can buy easily from places like Priceline or Target. This also has a handle, unlike the Tangle Teaser. I have been reaching for this a lot because it definitely works better than an average paddle brush, and as my hair has been growing, I actually need to brush my hair these days :P. I did a review of this brush here.

MAC Alluring Aquatic Extra Dimension Bronzer in Aphrodite's Shell and Extra Dimension Blush in Seduced At Sea: At the start of June I picked up a few items from the exciting new Alluring Aquatic collection from MAC. I love the packaging and I also love the products - I did a review of all the products that I got from the collection here. My first favourite product of the collection is the Aphrodite's Shell bronzer - it is a beautiful soft rose toned bronzer that is perfect for fair skin/my winter skintone. The second is the Seduced At Sea blush, which is a very orange toned blush but it gives a lovely natural coral flush to the cheeks and I have been wearing it a lot since buying it.

Orly Ablaze Baked Colour Polish: I tried out a couple of new Orly nail polishes, and even though I wasn't a fan of the Saturated shade (see my review here), I LOVED this Ablaze shade. It is a neon orange with fine gold shimmer, and even though this isn't a typical winter nail polish shade, it was a very fun shade to wear. I also wore this for 7 days with minimal wear and chipping.

OFRA Cosmetics Laboratories Diamonds Are Forever Palette: I was randomly sent this palette, so it was a great surprise to open up a random package to find this in it! This is a strange palette because it contains 13 shades in a z-palette like magnetic cardboard packaging (I guess so you can add to the palette). The shade names are listed on the OFRA website, but the pans don't have the shades listed on them, so it's hard to tell which shade is which. Anyway, the reason why this is in my favourites is because I have been LOVING some of the rosy gold/copper shades in this palette this month and the pigmentation is amazing!

The main shades that I have been loving at the first two on the top and the first two on the middle line. These are shades that I would have loved to see in the Naked 3 palette... they are pink toned and neutral but very unique and beautiful. This is an odd palette because it has some gorgeous mid toned warm neutral shades and then some random bright shades... I haven't used the bright shades yet, but the neutral shades are perfection. If this palette contained some taupes and mattes instead of the brights, this would rival palettes like the Naked Palette... the pigmentation of most of the shades beats the pigmentation of Urban Decay shadows hands down.

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics OCC Skin Conceal in Y1 and Y2: I bought these concealers months and months ago from Lipstick Republic and I have been using them a lot again lately. These come in yellow based shades and red based shades, I have Y1 and Y2 which is two of the lighter yellow toned shades (lightest being Y0). I usually am a mix of the two, but lately I have been Y1 with my winter skin tone. I have been LOVING these concealers again, they are quite dry, heavy coverage, but if you buff them in with a Real Techniques Domed Shadow Brush, it makes your skin look flawless. I did a full review of YI here.

La Roche Posay Anthelios XL Melt In Cream: I wear sunscreen every day, so I am always on the look out for a decent sunscreen that doesn't effect my makeup and doesn't make me feel greasy during the day. My normal favourite is the Invisble Zinc Environmental Skin Protector, but this newer one by La Roche Posay feels the same as the Inivisble Zinc one, it has a higher SPF (50 instead of 30) and it is cheaper! I have also tried the La Roche Posay Anthelios XL Extreme Fluid, and even though I did like it, I found that it clashed with some of my moisturisers and primers... but this Melt In Cream doesn't.

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvets: These are my absolute favourite lip products of the month, and some of the best of the year! These are comfortable lip cream type products that settle to a matte finish and then to a stain. They are comfortable, long wearing, and they look amazing. I did a full review with swatches here.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo in Brunette: I bought a bunch of Anastasia products from Urban Outfitters in June (see haul here). The brow powder duo is by far my most used product from the haul. I love that this comes with two shades that you can use for a dark bold brow, a softer lighter brow, or mix your perfect shade, and the shades are perfect matte cool toned brow shades. These also come in a huge range of shades, so if you struggle finding a shade for you, check out these brow powder duos!

Dr Bronner's Magic Soap Peppermint Organic Liquid Soap: This is a multipurpose soap that you can use as a body wash, hand soap, shampoo, cleaning product etc etc etc. I use this as a shower gel and I instantly fell in love with it because it creates that tingly menthol feel that really helps wake me up in the morning. This is exactly what I have been needing for the colder mornings. I will be doing a full review of this soon!

So those are my June favoruites, what was your favourite beauty product in June?

  1. The LRP XL Extreme Fluid clashed with my makeup imo, it started to ball up when I blended my foundations in on top; did you have this problem as well?
Bourjois REV are my loves for this month as well, amazingly long wearing and comfortable on the lips!

    1. Yeah I have had it clash with moisturisers and primers before and ball up, not so much foundations I don't think. It is great if you wear it with skincare/makeup that doesn't clash... but this melt in version hasn't clashed with any of my products so far.

  4. Those rose gold shades look so pretty. I have been lusting after the Naked 3 palette but I might have to give the OFRA one a look. That soap also sounds interesting. :)
