Crazy Rumors HibisKiss Tinted Balms - review and swatches

I was lucky enough to be sent the whole range of the Crazy Rumors HibisKiss tinted lip balms to review from Miss Pearl Store. Miss Pearl Store is an Australian online store that stocks natural beauty products and has free shipping in Australia!

If tinted lip balms aren't your thing, there is also a whole range of normal Crazy Rumors lip balms in a whole array of interesting scents like Raspberry Sorbet, Orange Bergamot, and Peppermint Lemongrass (I reviewed the Red Hibiscus lip balm here)

All of these lip balms are 100% natural, are cruelty free and vegan and each lip balm contains 2.5g of product and retails for $6.50.

There are six shades available:

Sunrise: Peachy gold shimmer
Sunset: Orange toned red shimmer
Tropical: Warm berry pink shimmer
Coral: Nude pink shimmer
Pearl: Sheer pink shimmer
Breeze: Warm brown shimmer

All of these balms have a fruity cherry scent and contain shimmer. These can be applied sheerly or can be built up to the colours in the swatches above (and lip swatches below).

Some of the shades in the swatches look quite similar, particularly Tropical, Coral and Breeze, but you can tell a difference between the shades on the lips.

You can see from the swatches that all of these shades look gorgeous on the lips. The colours are sheer to medium opacity, but the colour applies quite evenly. These all contain a lot of shimmer, but they give the lips a nice juicy appearance rather than a frosty finish. These also look lovely layered over a lipstick for some added shine and hydration. These balms are very comfortable and hydrating and the colour lasts a few hours on the lips, but they do fade considerably after the first hour or so. My favourite shade is definitely Sunset, it is a really pretty daytime appropriate red and it looks sensational layered over a red lipstick.

My only criticism about this product is that the shades all seem to be in a similar colour family. I don't know if this is because the pigment used is naturally derived and only comes in limited shades, but I would love to see an orange, a berry shade and also a blue toned pink/mauve shade, just to break up the warm neutral pink theme that's happening with this range.

If you love a tinted balm, I definitely recommend these! They are affordable, they are 100% natural, and they give other tinted balms on the market (like the Burt's Bees Lip Shimmers) a run for their money.

  2. I'm a huge tinted lip balm fan-these look really cool because I've really only seen cream formulas, not so much shimmers. I like that they're natural, too!

  4. They are all very close in shades and almost look the same. Other then the pearl and the sunset, the other 4 looked like the same colour on your lips. Might just been my computer or how they look in the light. But other then that they look really nice, might have to try one :)
