NARS Haul

While I was in Sydney visiting Talia from Glossy Confidential last weekend, I bought a few high end products that have been on my wish list. This post is about the NARS products that I bought.

I really do like NARS but I don't own much of it (because its damn expensive)... in this one haul I have pretty much doubled my NARS collection. I bought all of these NARS products at Mecca Cosmetica.

I bought the NARS Sheer Matte foundation in the shade Light 4 Deauville. Now, most people rave about the Sheer Glow foundation, but I wanted to try the matte version because I don't generally like dewy foundations... but I regret my decision. This foundation cost a whopping $68 and I also bought the pump for a further $4, and I have been using it all week and I'm not a big fan. It is too sheer for what I normally like, it doesn't blend all that well, and it wears off unevenly. On a positive note, the finish is quite natural and the shade is a great winter shade for me.

Oh I thought I should mention that when you attach the pump, you can't actually put the lid on the bottle! What a crappy design! NARS get your shit together and make a foundation that a) comes with a pump and b) has a lid that fits over that pump!

Even though the foundation was on my wish list, and I clearly picked badly... but the next two spontaneous products were great decisions!

I am loving NARS eyeshadows after buying the Narsissist palette, so I thought I would look at the eyeshadow duos. The eyeshadow duos retail for $55 at Mecca Cosmetica. I was instantly drawn to the Kalahari Eyeshadow Duo that contains a taupey gold shimmery shade and a mid toned taupe/brown satin shade.

These are examples of my perfect all over lid shades, I love mid toned shades because I find that really light shimmery shades make my eyes look small and beady. Over the last week these have been the only two eyeshadows that I have been wearing. I use the first shimmery shade all over the lid and lower lash line, and I use the second shade in the crease/outer corner.

Lastly I fell in love with this blush in Sin. This retails for $45 and the shade is described as a berry with a gold shimmer. This blush has a soft gold shimmer that doesn't show up much on the cheeks, but instead the blush provides a really nice natural flush to the cheeks. I never thought that my perfect flush shade would be a berry shade, but when I apply this lightly it looks really natural. Just like the eyeshadow duo, this is the only blush I have been wearing since I bought it.

That will be my last NARS purchases for a while... my bank account isn't happy with me.

I also did a haul video about these products and the other two products I bought while I was in Sydney. I will no doubt do a full review of the other two products in the next week or so!

  1. Amazing haul, it's a shame though that the Sheer Matte didn't work out for you. Both the blush and eyeshadow duo look amazing though!

  4. So funny you mention the foundation pump issue because, after waiting months for my local Mecca to restock them, I was very cranky to find that once the pump is on, the stupid cap doesn't fit! Obviously the design team was not on the ball that day.

It's always disappointing when a foundation doesn't work out for you, especially a $68 one! I've got Sheer Glow and I haven't had any issues with it, I don't even find the finish overly dewy.

Good haul though, I need some more Nars in my life.

  5. Will Mecca exchange the Sheer Matte for a Sheer Glow seeing as you're not happy with the foundation? A waste of money if not.
I adore those eyeshadows though and have added them to my wishlist, Sin is just gorgeous too!

  7. I love NARS, probably my favourite brand. The left colour in the Kalahari duo is basically my idea of a perfect eyeshadow colour.
