Mothers Day gift ideas - Theorie and Amika haircare

You often come across skincare or makeup in impressive looking packaging, but rarely do you see haircare products and think "those look pretty!".

I thought I would share some pretty looking haircare products that could be great ideas for Mothers Day gifts, or would also be perfect if you just like having pretty products in your bathroom or guest bathroom.

The first brand I thought deserves a mention is Theorie.

I have been using the Argan Oil Ultimate Repair Shampoo and Conditioner for a few weeks now and I have been really enjoying them. They both contain argan oil, which helps nourish the hair, and they also claim to restore and revive dull damaged hair. These are also free from sodium, sulfate, phosphate and parabens, and they are supposed to help protect your hair from UVA/UVB rays.

These products have an amazing fresh scent (which would easily appeal to males and females) and they leave my hair smelling clean and lovely. I always expect sulphate free products not to work as well as other shampoos and conditioners, but I was surprised to see that these foamed up and cleaned my hair just as well as any other salon products. My hair has been feeling really clean, soft, and volumised.

One thing that I also love about this brand is that the packaging is really nice. These bottles have a modern, clean, earthy design that you can imaging being displayed in expensive homewares shops or display homes. These would be perfect as a gift, or if I had a guest bedroom where I can show off some pretty products, these would take pride of place.

You can see more of the Theorie range here. The shampoo and conditioner retail for $24.95 each.

The next brand that is a great gift idea is Amika.

Just like Theorie, the packaging of Amika products are gorgeous. All the Amika product have fun colourful modern design, and I would love to fill my bathroom with the whole range! If I could design packaging, this is roughly what it would look like.

The two products I have been using are the Oil Treatment and the Nourishing Mask. I featured the Nourishing Mask in my April Favourites post. The Nourishing Mask is nice and thick, and it leaved my hair feeling soft, shiny and lightweight... I love it! Both of these products have a lovely vanilla citrus scent which smells sweet and warm. To be completely honest, I find the Oil Treatment too heavy for my particular hair type, but if you like thicker hair oils then you will really enjoy this. I also find that the the lack of a pump makes using this a little difficult. What I have been doing is adding some of the oil to the hair mask as an intense treatment while I have been having a bath. I find that this gives some amazing soft and hydrating results.

You can buy the range of Amika products here. The Nourishing Mask retails for $39.95 and the Oil Treatment retails for $44.95.
