March/April Empties

Here we are, talking rubbish again! Let's make this quick so we can get back to eating Easter Eggs!

RPR Pump Up My Volume Shampoo and Conditioner: I did like these products, I thought they added quite good volume to my hair, but I found that around the time I started using them, I started getting an eye reaction. I was waking up with dry painful red puffy dry eyelids, so I cut out every skincare/haircare/makeup product that was relatively new until it cleared up. I ended up pin pointing these as being the cause. These are almost full and I am throwing them out. I also wasn't a fan of the frangipani scent. Repurchase: No

La Roche Posay Effaclar: This is a gentle gel foaming cleanser that is designed for oily skin. I don't mind this product, and it does accompany the Effaclar Duo (which is a light moisturiser) very well. My only issue is that this lasts ages so I got sick of using it. By the time I finished one of these tubes of cleanser, I had used about 3 tubes of Effaclar Duo. This is a decent, gentle, basic cleanser designed for oilier skin, and I do have a back up, but I won't open it too soon because I did get sick of it a little. Repurchase: Maybe in the future

Maybelline Clean Express Total Clear Express Eye and Lip Makeup Remover: This is a half oil, half liquid makeup remover that you shake up and put on a cotton pad to remove your makeup. This was good, but the bottle is really small, and I do think the Garnier one is slightly better. Repurchase: Eh, probably not

Lush Ocean Salt Facial Scrub: I wasn't a fan when I first tried this, but the longer I used it, the more I liked it. The scent is amazing, it has a lemon/grapefruit zingy scent that I adore. It is pretty much a creamy product that contains large chunks of salt crystals. These large salt crystals will be a bit too harsh for a lot of people. Once I got used to this, I really did like it, and I found that it made my skin nice and soft. Repurchase: Not right now, but likely in the future

Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula: This is a pretty classic body butter. It is a not too thin, not too thick, cocoa butter scented lotion and it is a great product for people who are just starting to use body lotions and they don't know which one to choose. Repurchase: Yes

OSIS+ Refresh Dust: This is a mini can of the refresh dust, which pretty much is a volumising powder/dry shampoo. This deposits powder into your hair, which adds volume to the roots, but it also makes you hair feel quite gritty (which I wasn't a fan of). I only used this small can around 4-5 times until the leak in the dispenser made all of the pressure come out and I couldn't use it any more. Hopefully this is just a fault with my can :S. Repurchase: No

Lush Ro's Argan Body Conditioner: I ADORE this body conditioner, it is my all time favourite Lush product! It smells amazing - like a rose lemon dessert, and it feels luxurious and makes your skin feel super soft and hydrated. You apply this in the shower after you have washed, and you rinse it off and it "conditions" your skin. Love this, and I feel empty without it! Repurchase: Definitely!

Model Rock Lashes #241: I bought these at IMATS and they cost like $3-4 each. These were really nice natural looking lashes and I got about 5-6 uses out of them. They are make of human hair and they have a thin see-through flexible band which made this super comfortable to wear. I have a few of these left, but I am looking forward to getting more at IMATS this year! Repurchase: Yes

Schick razor: I have had this guy for 5 years now... I bought it when I first moved out of home (naaaw the memories). I have received a few other newer razors so I have decided that he needs to retire. See ya old buddy! Repurchase: I don't even know if this is still around! But Schick razors are pretty good

Crabtree and Evelyn Pomegranate Argan and Grapeseed Ultra-Moisturising Hand Therapy: I am generally a fan of Crabtree and Evelyn hand creams, but I hated the scent of this one! Pomegranate oil in my opinion smells like burnt spicy chilli... so I wasn't a fan. Repurchase: No

Youngblood High Definition Mineral Perfecting Powder: This was a tiny sample and I really did enjoy it... it is a very finely milled translucent powder and it made my face feel like paper - I know that sounds weird, but it made my face really smooth and pore free. I would buy this if it weren't $50+ for a full size. Repurchase: Yes

Invisible Zinc Tinted Daywear in Medium: I always use Invisible Zinc sunscreen (the Environmental Skin Protector one), but I hated this tinted moisturiser! I only used this once, but it made me super greasy (like most tinted moisturisers) but it also made my break out. After using this once, I had a cluster of painful pimples on my chin that took about two weeks to clear up (and ended up scarring). This is being thrown out! Repurchase: No way!

Estee Lauder Perfectly Clean Splash Away Foaming Cleanser: I don't usually splash out on expensive cleaners, but I got this in a gift with purchase from Estee Lauder a while ago. I did like this cleanser, it looked like a thick cream but it foamed really nicely and wasn't harsh. It also had a really nice clean scent that is really pleasant. I did find that because it dispenses like a firm cream, I always dispensed too much and I went through this small tube pretty quickly. If this didn't have a high end price tag, I would probably repurchase it. Repurchase: Maybe

Evo Self Indulgence Body Creme: I had no idea that Evo did body products, I thought they only did hair products! This was a nice thin, yet hydrating, body lotion and it had a very pleasant soft scent. This is the type of body lotion that most people would be happy to use, and I am not sure how much it costs for a full size, but I would definitely be tempted to buy it if I saw it in the shops. Repurchase: Yes

Clarisonic Head: BAH! I bought a new Clarisonic head for a whopping $32 because my old head was funky and I stopped used my Clarisonic until I bought a new one. When I went to charge the Clarisonic, excited to use the new head, my Clarisonic didn't hold a charge! And this is probably only a month or so after the warranty had run out! Pissed off! Repurchase: NO!

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder 005 Silky Beige: This is a staple basic, cheap pressed powder that I would recommend anyone who likes to set their foundation/create a more matte finish. Repurchase: I already had a back up!

Bourjois Healthy Balance Powder in 52: I love this powder, it's finely milled, looks lovely on the skin, and provides a bit of extra coverage. The only downside is that it's not cheap, so I only buy it when it's on sale. I also find that the Australia Fresh and Flawless powder is very similar, but is heaps cheaper. If you are going to buy this powder, get a shade lighter than your normal shade because it just apply quite dark! Repurchase: If on sale

Bourjois Flower Perfection Translucent Smoothing Primer: I think they are discontinuing this product. It is a pot set silicon primer that did work quite well at extending the wear of your foundation, and also blending over pores, however this only contained 7g of product and I think I used it up within a month! This also isn't cheap (retails for $24), and the only reason why I had it was because it was part of a gift with purchase. Repurchase: No

Makeup Sponge: I got this horrible thing about a year ago for $1. I though this was probably a good dupe for a beauty blender, but it's not! This is really firm (almost like an eraser), whereas the beauty blender is very soft and bouncy. I would suggest to spend the money on a beauty blender if you were curious about it trying makeup sponges, or if you don't want to spend the money, then get a Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge ($6 from iHerb). Repurchase: No

Maybelline Volume Express Colossal Cats Eyes: I really liked this mascara, it didn't give the most dramatic lashes, but it did do a great job and it lasted and lasted and lasted. It is also the type of mascara that gets better as it dries out a little bit. I wouldn't hesitate buying this again, but I do need to use up my 9 back up mascaras first :P Repurchase: Yes

MAC Zoom Lash: I got this mascara in a gift pack a while back, and this was my makeup bag mascara. I think MAC mascaras are really great, but they aren't cheap. Because of the prices of their mascaras, I would prefer to pick them up in gift packs rather than buying them individually. Repurchase: Maybe

Norsca Passion Flower and Clear Sports Anti-Perspirant Deodorant: Clearly I like this stuff! IMy favourite is the Clear Sports version which has a baby powder type scent. This doesn't leave white marks and it does tend to last better than other deodorants that I have used. Repurchase: Definitely

Nivea Stress Protect: This is a roll on deodorant and I have found myself repurchasing this a few times lately... clearly it must work pretty well. Repurchase: Already have

Daiso Cosmetic Cotton: Cotton pads are cotton pads, but these are a decent size and it contains 150 cotton pads for $2.80, no complaints. Repurchase: Yes

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion samples: These are samples that I got with the Naked 3 palette, and they taught me that I don't really like the UD Primer Potion! The only one that I thought was pretty good was the matte version which is called Eden - it provided a good amount of coverage to blank out the lid and I liked the matte finish, the other ones felt too greasy. Repurchase: Only Eden

Woolworths Select Scented Baby Wipes: I buy these to wipe my hands when I am doing my makeup (often I apply foundation/concealer with my hands). I hated these because they dried up really quickly and the lid didn't stay closed. Repurchase: No

And Lastly, here is a bunch of liners/mascaras that I am throwing out... and I don't need to review them, they are either really old and I never used them, or they are complete rubbish (note the abundance of Model Co that I am throwing out)!

That's it! I hope everyone are enjoying their Easter/long weekend! Don't forget to enter my Easter Giveaway and 1000 Subscribers Giveaway!

  2. That's a lot of products heading to the bin!! I had a sample of Ro's Argon and looooooved it! I also found that the Ocean Scrub was a little harsh for my face but smelt nice. I think I need to clean out my unloved products from the eye/lip section too.
