Beauty Favourites March 2014

April 3, 2014

I had a really good March, the weather is getting a bit cooler and more comfortable, I caught up with a lot of friends, and I managed to go to a few blogging events. Most of my favourites (everything except for one lipstick) are new products that I either randomly picked up or products that I got from events like Salon Melbourne or product launches.

Onto my favourites...

Bourjois Color Edition 24H in Petale De Glace: This is a cream eyeshadow that I believe is limited edition in Australia. You can also get a silvery shade and a very dark blue, but I decided to try out the pinky taupe shade because it would work well with the Naked 3 palette. This wasn't cheap (I am thinking it's $20), but I bought it from Priceline when it was 40% off. This is in my favourites because it is the prettiest shimmery mauve-nude shade. It applies quite sheer when you apply it with your fingers, but if you use a brush you can get more colour on the lid. This does not last 24 hours or even a full 8 hour day, but this does last better if you apply it over a primer, or if you apply a shadow over the top. I have been mainly just throwing this on with some mascara if I am going out for a few hours and I want a quick and easy pretty eye look. See swatch later in this post.

Color Club Cloud Nine Nail Lacquer: I bought this from Salon Melbourne and I wasn't sure if I was going to like it, so I only bought one shade. I am kicking myself because I love his holographic nail polish and I wish I had other shades. This is a soft mauve/lavender shade and it lasted on my nails for an entire week without chipping. Check out how it looks on my nails here.

Make Up For Ever Full Cover concealer in 7 Sand: I bought this concealer from Salon Melbourne and I adore it! It is very full coverage (see swatch later in this post) and it is waterproof (perfect for my oily skin). This is a cream product that sets quite fast and sets to a matte-ish finish. The lady at the stand said that its not recommended under the eyes... well I have been wearing it under my eyes, on my blemishes, around my nose, and I love it! You need the tiniest amount, it lasts all day and I haven't found anything that provides coverage that is anywhere near as good as this. If you have dry or sensitive skin, I would probably say to keep this away from your eyes, but on my oilier skin I didn't have an issue with it.

Lime Crime lipsticks in Retrofuturist and Centrifuchsia: I have been wearing either Retrofuturist or Centrifuchsia when I have been going out anywhere this month. These lipsticks are very pigmented, very bold, but because they don't have a white base (unlike most other Lime Crime lipsticks), they end up settling to look more like a very pigmented stain lipstick. I love the look of them, but I also love that they last through meals and drinks because they do actually stain the lips. Very bold but low maintenance lipsticks. See swatches below.

Lancome Tresor Midnight Rose: I featured a mini version of this in my January favourites, and I loved it so much that I was dedicated to make this my next perfume purchase. I bought the largest bottle of this in March and I adore it! It is a warm slightly floral slightly sweet scent that is supposed to be a mix of rose and blackcurrant. This lasts all day and is more of a sophisticated sweet scent. This is a nice warm scent to it will be perfect for the upcoming warm months.

Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette: This is my all time favourite product of this month and I am so glad I bought this palette when I did because I have heard that it is sold out everywhere in Australia! This is a very warm/Autumn toned palette, which are my favourite shades of eyeshadows, and it also contains mattes, shimmers and glittery shades. The quality of these shades are lovely and they even smell like chocolate! If you come across this palette, definitely get it! I did a full post on this palette here.

Enbacci Skincare: I was lucky enough to be invited to an Enbacci launch at the start of March. I walked away with this 3 step skincare system, and I have been loving it! This has a gel cleanser, a spray toner and a moisturiser and they all contain grape stem cells which have a high level of antioxidants. It is a very expensive skincare range, so I am glad I was able to try before I buy. This is a light refreshing skincare system that I have been using in the mornings, and I find that it has made my skin really nice and soft. I did a full review of these products here.

V05 Give Me Texture Shampoo and Conditioner: I normally don't buy supermarket haircare, but I love these! I was sent these, and I am finding myself reaching for these over the salon shampoos and conditioners that I have in my shower. I have limp hair and these really do create some nice volume which lasts. I normally need to wash my hair every day because it gets quite limp, but when I use these, I can let my hair go another day without needing to wash it. If you are after an affordable haircare range, check out the new V05 range, because I was surprised at how good they were and they cost under $5 each!

That's it for my March favourites! I also did a video that contained a few beauty fails and random favourites. Check that out below if you are interested.
