Nuxe Reve de Miel Ultra-Nourishing Lip Balm review

March 17, 2014

Some of you may know that I am either wearing a bold lipstick, or a plain lip balm... there is very little in-between for me. I am also quite picky when it comes to a decent lip balm, and I am always on the hunt for my newest holy grail lip balm.

This Nuxe Ultra-Nourishing Lip Balm has been on the top of my lip balm to buy list for a very long time. Before Priceline started stocking Nuxe products (which towards the end of last year), this was actually quite hard to track down. This balm for around $19.95 retails at Priceline (I can't find it on the Priceline website so I don't know the exact price), but I did manage to buy it when it was 30% off. Just a quick warning, this is not stocked in smaller Pricelines, but you can easily find it in the Nuxe section of larger Priceline stores.

Some of you may be thinking "why would you spend nearly $20 on a lip blam". I know, I know, this is a pricey lip balm, but it does contain a whopping 15g of product. Take the Korres Lip Butter as a comparison, it only contains 6g of product and retails for a ridiculous $18.95 from Mecca Cosmetica.

The Nuxe Lip Balm also comes in a nice heavy glass container that makes this product feel quite expensive.

The product itself is not like any other balm that I have tried. It is more of a paste texture, and it almost has a fine graininess to it (which is strange but not unpleasant). Even though this has a strange orange-caramel colour, the colour does not transfer to the lips, This balm creates a natural (not glossy or shiny) effect on the lips so it would work well for both males and females. I also really like the orange scent that this balm has.

What I love most about this lip balm is that is that it keeps my lips hydrated for hours and hours. When I apply this before I go to bed, I don't need to worry about dry patches the next day (which makes applying matte lipsticks so much easier). You also only need the tiniest amount of this product, so this 15g tub should last me a long time.

What's you're favourite lip balm?

  4. Glad you're loving this! It's been on my wishlist forever too. Still want to try it down the line, but right now I'm loving Lush's Honey Trap balm. Totally saved my dry lips this Winter :)

  5. I tried it once but I found it to be very sticky ? Does it feel like that to you? Maybe it was the one I tried only.

  7. I've been eyeing this lip balm in the drugstore and I just can't quite decide whether it's worth it. I really should consider it since it's designed for the "extreme Canadian cold" and I live in Winnipeg - doesn't really get more extreme than that. I love the idea that it gives a natural shine since combined with my nude lip liner, I should have perfectly natural looking lips - only enhanced.

Right now I'm using and l'm loving pure simple shea butter. Yep, I bought a tub of it and decanted it into little pots I got at the dollar store. It goes on nicely without being too greasy and keeps the lips hydrated a fair amount of time. The thing is, this tub is going to last me for YEARS - so it really is the cheapest alternative out there - plus, no toxic ingredients and great for anyone with super sensitive allergies.

  8. This sounds like a good one! Is the orange scent just citrusy, or the sickly sweet type?

    1. Its not zesty, so its definitely a little on the sweet side, but definitely not sickly sweet.

  9. I heard this works really well under matte lipsticks so I'm desperate to get my hands on it, haven't come across it at Priceline myself just yet so I'll be keeping an eye out.

  10. I love this Nuxe lip balm! I bought mine off a UK site called Escentual, they're having a 33% off sale at the moment and it comes to about 6 pounds, which is around $12! I love using it before I go to bed, it isn't oily at all and I love the natural scent it has. It definitely has a unique texture but I really like it, definitely a repurchase for whenever mine is used up :)

  11. This does seem pricey but it sounds fab, from what you have said. I've been finding myself increasingly dissatisfied with my cheapo $3 lip balm sticks so this might be a good option to check out.
