It's favourites time, and I have some new juicy goodies in this months post. As a quick background, I was pretty boring at the start of Feb, but as I started picking up more shifts at work (more disposable income) and as I finally graduated from my course (reason to celebrate), so I decided to buy myself some high end goodies.
I also had a bad skin reaction to some haircare products, so I had to keep my skincare quite natural and hydrating. I did a favourites and fails video, which mentions the products that I reacted to... so check the out below!
Urban Decay Naked Palette: Ok, I know I am VERY late to the party with this palette, but I have tossed up whether or not to get this for years (mainly wasn't sure whether to invest in the 1 or 2... and then 3 came along!). Whenever I wanted to take the plunge and buy these, the sites that stock them were always out of stock. I recently decided (after having a shitty Saturday night and wanting to feel better by internet shopping), that I should buy the Naked Palette and the Naked 3 Palette. I chose those palettes because I prefer warmer toned eyeshadows, and the Naked 2 is notoriously the cooler toned palette of the three. The Naked 3 didn't make it into my favourites this month mainly because it a few dud shades, and also because compared to the original Naked Palette, it is nothing special. See my review, comparison and swatches of the Naked and Naked 3 palettes here.
I won't go into too much detail about this Naked Palette, a) because I am sure most people have experienced it, and b) because I will be writing an in depth review of both the Naked palettes shortly. In a nut shell, it is a fantastic palette, every shade is buttery and pigmented. There are shades for gold looks, pink looks, bronze looks, taupe/purple looks, and blue/silvery looks. This is missing some basics, like a brow shade, a matte black and a matte cream shade, but besides that this is a pretty perfect palette. You can buy these for approx $80 from Lookfantastic.com or BeautyBay.com (just search naked).
NARS Narsissist Palette: This is no where near as pigmented as the Naked Palette, but it has made it into my favourites because it is a really nice true nude palette. What I mean by that is that the Naked Palette (and the Naked 3 Palette) have really bold shimmery shades, but this has more skin toned and muted "nude" shades. It also has 5 mattes (including a cream, a black, and three browns that could easily be used for crease/eyebrow shades) and this is the type of palette that you could use everyday to create a "no makeup" makeup look, or a really nice work appropriate look. This palette isn't as pigmented as I would have liked (if it was more pigmented I would shout it's praise from the rooftops), but the shades and nice and soft and easy to work with. This palette fills a gap in my eyeshadow palette collection, that the Naked one doesn't fill. The other downfall is the price! It's $115 from Mecca Cosmetica, which is cray cray!
Since I have been experimenting with new eye shadows, I have been turning to a nude lip and a nude blush. My favourite lipstick of the month is by Nude By Nature and it is in the shade Chique. This is a nice creamy bold mineral lipstick that is in the same shade as my natural lip colour. The blush I have been reaching for is the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Mood Exposure which is a nude rosy shade. It it a lovely finely milled blush that provides a beautiful even colour and a very slight sheen. I reviewed the blush in more detail here. See swatches below.

Dr Lipp Original Nipple Balm For Lips: This is an 100% lanolin product, and I have been reaching for it this month because I had really red, dry, puffy eyes from a reaction to a shampoo that I was using. I was applying this to my eyelids before I went to bed (and sometimes during the day) and it helped reduce the swelling and dryness. This is also the only lip balm that my boyfriend is willing to use, so it must be decent :P I did a full review of this here.
Lush Skin's Shangri La Facial Moisturiser: Since I didn't know what was causing my skin reaction for a few weeks, I cut out all of my complicated skincare and stuck to some natural basics until the reaction had calmed down. This was the moisturiser that I turned to, and even though the scent is a little off putting, I found this to be hydrating enough for a night moisturiser but also thin enough for a day moisturiser. This is great if you are looking for a natural but very hydrating moisturiser.
Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in 500 Pink At Him: I saw my friend wearing this nail polish earlier in Feb and I had to go get one for myself. It isn't the type of polish that I would usually go for (I tend to reach for more blue toned baby pinks), but I have been wearing only this shade for around two weeks now. This is a light, bight, nude pink that has a yellow undertone (has a slight coral hint) and this is a fun but classy pink shade.
Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Anti-Aging Smoothing Lotion: This is a bit of a random favourite, but I have been loving this body lotion because of the scent. I thought that this would smell like the typical cocoa butter scent, but instead this has a strong spicy scent which reminds me of a spicy vanilla hand cream that I used to have and adored. This is my favourite body lotion for the month.
NUXE Reve de Miel Ulta Nourishing Lip Balm: This has been on my wish list for ages and I picked it up at Priceline while there was a 20 or 30% off sale. This is an expensive lip balm (just under $20 full priced), but you literally use the smallest amount, and you get 15g of product (for comparison the Korres Lip Butter contains 6g). This is a weird almost gritty paste texture, definitely not a typical lip balm, but it this keeps my lips hydrated for hours and hours (longer than any other lip balm I have used). Since I have been applying this at night I don't have any dry patches on my lips anymore, which is very helpful if you like wearing matte lipsticks.
Those are all of my February favourites! Let me know if you have tried any of these products, and what you think of them!
