Cellilux Glacial Mineral Gel review

March 1, 2014

I have had this mask for quite a few months now and I don't know why I haven't reviewed it earlier! I bought this after getting a sample from Bellabox, and I ended up buying a full size from the Bellabox website pretty much the very next day after using the sample.

After looking at the Cellilux website, it seems as though the Bellabox store is the only place you can buy this from in Australia, but check out the Cellilux website if you are from another country and want to see where you can buy this. On the Bellabox website this retails for $69 for 60g (plus shipping), but this is a very similar concept to the ever so hyped Glam Glow Mask which retails for $75 for 35g from Mecca stores. If you do the maths, this is almost half the price of the Glam Glow mask ($1.15 per gram vs $2.20 per gram). I haven't used the Glam Glow Mask, so I can't compare them exactly, but they seem pretty similar.

The box pretty much explains everything you need to know about this product. In a nutshell, this is a clay mask that is supposed to suck out all of the impurities from your skin into the clay and then you wash it off. This helps to detoxify your skin and also to exfoliate.

The mud is a dark green colour and you apply it to a cleansed and dried face. When you first apply it, it does tingle a lot and may be quite uncomfortable for some people (it almost feels like you are putting a heavy methol product on your skin), but as soon as this dries it stops tingling entirely. I generally apply quite a thin layer and it dries within a couple of minutes.

Once it has dried it turns a light green, and you will start to see toxins being sucked out from your pores and turning the mask back to the dark green in those spots. The longer you leave it on, the larger the green patches become. I generally leave this mask on for around 20-30min and by the time I wash it off there are huge green patches around my t-zone.

The instructions say to spritz your face with cold water after to rinse this off to close the pores... I always forget that step. After this mask has been removed, my skin feels a lot smoother and often I will see some blackheads around my nose start to come out. If I see that, then I will follow this with a pore strip to pull out the rest of the gunk that this mask had dislodged. If you are struggling with a patch of pimples, you could also use this mask as a spot treatment.

This is my go to clay mask at the moment because it doesn't dry out my skin, but it gives instant results. This is also perfect for my skin type as I have oily/combination skin and do often suffer from breakouts. I also did a bit of a demonstration video about this mask, so check that out below.

What's your favourite face mask?

  2. I've tried this one and the GlamGlow mask. I have to say this one is right up there. It personally gave me a "cleaner" feeling than GlamGlow did.

  4. I've tried the Glam Glow mask before but unfortunately I wasn't a fan :( I do have a sample of this one though that I still haven't tried. Might drag it out next week and give it a go.

  7. I didn't try my sample for so long because I saw quite a few ppl say on the BB FB page that they had a reaction. Eventually I tried it and loved it. I really should buy the full size, but I'm terrible with applying masks regularly.

  8. It's frustrating because although it appears to be made in British Columbia, it isn't sold anywhere in Canada. It appears it will cost me $78 on the official site - but I can't find out if that includes shipping and what delivery service is used. Not a great website, in that respect. Too bad because it looks wonderful!

    1. Hi,

Thanks for your feedback. We will amend our website. Our product is not sold in Canada as this is a Singapore brand and we do not have distribution channels there yet.

Where would you like the product to be delivered to?

  9. UM I NEED THIS NOW! I didn't try the sample myself because gah, but I'll have to pull it out of the giant box and give it a go. Sounds like my kind of thing though!
