  1. I love your rant! I used to like ModelCo when they had their old mascara and their old heated eyelash curler but when I bought the newer stuff they were cheap and nasty. The old eyelash curler was actually sturdy and good quality and when I bought the recent model it was made of cheap $hitty plastic. And good lord, they have completely infiltrated the beauty box market (BB, LHI, Violet Box, HFB, Lip Factory) and I hate receiving their lip glosses and eyeliners! Good on you!

  2. I couldnt agree more! ModelCo is a horrendous brand. I have their lip & cheek stain that I received in a BellaBox and its the worst fucking thing ever. It stinks to high heavens and burnt my lips when I used it. Thank fuck I didnt put it on my cheeks. I also have their fibre lashes that I received as a gift and its like wearing spider legs on my eyelids. Their mascaras give me gross eye allergies and their eyeliners are scratchy. I will never spend any more money on this brand.

Side note - what lipstick are you wearing?! it is absolutely gorgeous and I couldn't stop staring at it lol.

    1. Haha! I am wearing one of the new MAC Huggable Lipcolours in Commotion... I have just taken swatches of it so it will be reviewed very shortly ;) Thanks for expressing your view of ModelCo, hopefully someone will pay attention

  4. LOL I thoroughly enjoyed this video. Who knew that a negative review about a mascara from a subscription box would lead to this! I agree with what you said that if ModelCo were an actually decent, respected brand with a good following and well-loved and high quality products, they would hardly be leaving defensive comments on a BLOG post in response to a blogger posting their honest opinion about their products. Speaks volumes, really. The last paragraph in particular in the comment they left you was simply out of line. I haven't used many ModelCo products but I do remember an eyeshadow palette I tried that was a magazine freebie. It was highly underwhelming and cheaply packaged and I barely used it before it went into the bin. The high end prices they value their products at are a joke, especially since it seems the majority of people who've been exposed to their products have received them either from a magazine or subscription box.

  5. You go glen coco! I love how you say like it is. For them to retaliate on your blog post even though you have given them your reasons as to why you don't like their products was unprofessional of them. Shame on you Model Co..

  6. I really agree with you, as much as I want to like ModelCo (mainly due to the colour of the packaging I guess - gotta love hot pink!) there is no denying that the quality of the products is very sub-par. I used to work for DJ's in cosmetics and the ModelCo counter was the laughing stock of the whole cosmetics floor. The fact that it was in DJ's in the first place was ridiculous, especially as it was also in Target AND Priceline. Doesn't really scream "exclusive high-end brand" does it? So yes, don't worry, you aren't the first to have these sentiments about ModelCo and you will definitely not be the last. Also, I can't believe that they would respond to your blog post in that manner, perhaps their PR department have not had any formal training? Bizarre!
Keep up the great blog posts by the way, this is my first comment on your blog but I am an avid reader. :)

  7. I really had no opinion either way about ModelCo, however, after watching this, and reading other articles, etc, I won't be trying it. Great post!

  8. Wow, that comment was so rude! ModelCo are an absolutely horrible brand. It's so annoying receiving their products in beautyboxes. Instead of them taking your reviews as rude, they should see it as research on ways to improve their products. As a marketing major, that Digital Marketing Manager should be sacked cause they clearly have no idea how to communicate in a polite manner. I had no idea Lime Crime used to behave in that manner - I love their products but bad customer service should never be tolerated. Oh lord, it will be interesting to see if ModelCo responds to this video. Even Essence creates better products and they are a 1/4 of the price.

  9. I'm not sure why the ModelCo FatLash Mascara has so many bad reviews?! It makes my lashes look like falsies. I got it for doing a 5 min survey that was promoted on beautyheaven. It has got an equal mix of good and bad reviews on beautyheaven (Sam91 is my username on there, if anyone wants to check out my thoughts on it). However, I do find it got clumpy a lot faster than other mascaras I've used. I wouldn't purchase it myself for that reason. Their products are quite pricey and I would need to replace it too often.
I do believe that the comment from ModelCo was inappropriate and unnecessary. Very unprofessional!

  10. Absolutely agreed. To try and tell an unpaid beauty blogger how and what they should review, and what their expectations are, is pretty ridiculous! What next, they'll overhear someone commenting to a friend they didn't like a ModelCo product and then go storming over insisting they retract that statement and admit they were wrong?? Not sure what outcome they hoped for from their comment, but they sure didn't think it through before posting it!

  11. When I opened my LHI box last night and found the same Model Co lipgloss that I received in a previous LHI box I was less than impressed. I thought of this rant and it made me chuckle

  13. You're so right, ModelCo products are just overpriced junk really. Last product of theirs that I bought was a mascara...not sure why exactly I bought it but I thought I'd try it.....it was the most useless, generic mascara I've ever used. It was ridiculously overpriced considering it did absolutely nothing. I've had better results from $3 BYS mascaras.

  14. Stumbled across your rant while looking for reviews of ModelCo products I like - I have to admit that I adore the fibre lash mascara and the fluid splash foundation (although the latter is badly overpriced and I will not be buying it [was a gift]). I'm really disappointed that a brand reacted that way to your reviews and comments, that leaves a really bad taste in my mouth.

I do have a question, although it might be foolish putting it on such an old post - which beauty box subscription service is the best of the ones you try? Sorry if I have missed you saying it elsewhere, I've already disappeared down a rabbit hole watching your vids!

    1. I think all of the subscription services have pros and cons, but I personally think Bellabox are more consistent and they are the cheapest... its a great place to start. Thanks for stumbling across my blog :) xx
