Covergirl and Olay Simply Ageless Eye Concealer in the shade 215 Light Medium

December 27, 2013

I haven't really delved into the world of Covergirl, or Olay for that matter, but since Covergirl released the Stay Fabulous foundation (which I ADORE) I have been keen to give more of their products a try! A few months ago I decided to buy this Covergirl and Olay Simply Ageless Eye Concealer in the shade 215 Light Medium. This retails for $17.95 in Australia, but I did manage to buy it when it was 40% off at Priceline. This also contains 9g of product, which is quite a lot of product for a standard concealer. I really didn't need a new concealer, but I had heard really good things about this particular one, and I was quite intrigued by the Covergirl and Olay combination. There are also a couple of foundations and I believe a powder in this Covergirl and Olay range.

Essentially this is a concealer in a pot that has a swirl of moisturiser running through it. The only shades available are Light and Light Medium. I am really glad that I bought the Light Medium shade because when the moisturiser mixes with the concealer it tends to lighten the shade more than what you see in the pan. This shade would suit people with who use beige toned foundation shades, but if you are a more fair or ivory then you may want to buy the Light shade. Sadly this does not have an option for people who have darker skin toned, but people who are more tanned should be able to use this Light Medium shade as a more brightening under eye concealer.

I like the packaging of this product. I know that a lot of people don't like the messiness of a pot, but I think it works really well and the pot itself is quite sturdy. I also think the swirl of moisturiser makes this look really cool in the clear plastic packaging.

This concealer is very creamy and I was quite impressed with the pigmentation. This is creamy enough to blend out if you prefer a sheer coverage, but you can also easily build it up for a higher coverage. Because of the moisturiser swirl, this doesn't tend to look dry or cakey when applied (even applied heavily) and it is quite hydrating. Having quite oily skin I do find that I need to set this with powder to make sure it lasts all day, and I wouldn't attempt to use this over blemishes, or anywhere other than under my eyes, because it isn't dry enough to sufficiently cover blemishes and stay put all day.

BAM! Excuse my staring eyes, but on the left I have the concealer on, and on the right I don't. I don't have many issues with bags or darkness under my eyes, but you can see that the concealer does make my under eye area look quite a lot brighter, and hopefully you can see that this does blend really well into the skin. I apply this with my fingers by tapping it under my eye and then I set it with powder. I find that this does last on me all day and I don't have any issues with it settling into fine lines.

  1. i can see that. too bad i already bought a foundation and primer ... I loved the Covergirl and Olay primer but they don't seem to stock that anymore.
