Rachel K Mineral Color Control Neutral CC Cream Blemish Balm - review and swatches

October 23, 2013

I bought this Rachel K Neutral CC Cream from the Lust Have It shop a little while ago and I had a look at their shop today and I couldn't find it...

...good story bro!

Anyway, you can get these on ebay for around $35 and this comes in Neutral (pink tube) and in Original (black tube). There are only two shades of this, the Neutral is more neutral toned (duh!) and is a bit darker than the Original - which is very light and pink toned.

This is a Korean CC cream, which are supposed to be a lot better than the Western BB/CC creams available. This claims to be a 10 in 1 product which contains SPF, is moisturising, brightening, anti-wrinkle, collagen enriched, smudge proof, water proof etc etc.

I mainly wanted to try this because it is supposed to be good for people who have oilier skin and find Western BB/CC Creams too oily. This doesn't provide oil control, but it doesn't get super greasy looking like other BB/CC creams on the market.

As far a CC creams go, this is a great product: it does provide a good amount of coverage for a CC cream and I love the neutral tone, but my only issue is that it is so light that I can't use it on it's own - I either need to use it as a brightening base, or I need to mix it with a darker foundation to make it work... possibly I can get away with it in the middle of Winter. If you have very yellow toned skin, this may look ashy on you.

I would recommend this to people who are wanting to try Korean BB/CC creams, who want a semi-matte to slightly dewy finish, and who have light skin with neutral undertones. If you have very light skin then you may want to try the Original version.

  1. I still have a sachet sample of this but I can't use it because it's too light for me! Always disappointing to receive products in beauty boxes that aren't in the correct shade.

  2. I haven't yet tried the new craze that is the CC creams yet, although this one looks great! I used to use Asian BB creams but since Garnier released their own here, it just makes sense to use them as they are so easily accessible and affordable! I find that a lot of Asian BB creams are too light for my skintone (I'm not even that tan!) and I end up looking washed out which isn't a good look :( I'm a fan of the semi matte and dewy finish though!

    1. I love the Garnier BB cream for oily skin, but I hear the normal one is too greasy and provides no coverage

  3. Yay! I'm so glad you love it! So proud that a Singaporean created this line! It was from an ex-Miss singapore who started this line, and some how its been exploding overseas in sales! I too want this pink one, the black tube one is more like 'original' bb creams, very pale and a bit gray! I would pack on my regular powder on top so it would match me that you like how you'd mix with something darker!

  4. I find these sorts of products don't really match my skin tone very well. Thanks for the review though x x

  6. I have this in a full sized tube too! I love this - tried this in a subscription box, and I think it's amazing. It does leave a great dewy finish.

  7. I was going to purchase this as I loved it's coverage and staying power, but I've since trialed some others and the Maybelline Dream Pure is my fave at the moment, mainly as its so much easier to access here in Australia, but I certainly wouldn't say no some more of this one :)

  9. I still haven't tried my samples yet, but I have heard so many great reviews for this product. I'm hoping it'll match my skin colour better than the other asian BB creams I've purchased!

  10. BB creams never worked for me so i'm scared to try CC creams even though so far most of the reviews have been favorable. BB creams always looked too light/ashy on me but CC cream sounds a lot more promising! I've seen quite a few reviews for this particular one too, I'm going to keep my eyes peeled next time i'm in Asia, hopefully i can have a swatch!

    1. If you find normal BB creams ashy, you are likely to find this one ashy too :(
