HG PRODUCT! Daiso Detergent for Puff and Sponge

September 15, 2013

This is a very quick review of a product that I bought the other day and that I need to share with you guys! I have heard about the Daiso sponge detergent for quite some time and I have always been putting off getting it until I finish the large bottle of baby shampoo that I have sitting around... well I caved and bought it even though I haven't finished the baby shampoo.

This is designed to clean makeup sponges, so this would work really well on dense beauty blender type sponges, and it also works amazingly well on brushes. Like everything in the Daiso store, this only costs $2.80. It only contain 80ml of product, so if you don't have to keep making trips to Daiso, then you may want to buy a couple bottles at a time.

So this is a thin liquid that cleans brushes like a dream! Usually with very dirty brushes, or with foundation soaked brushes, I need to clean my brushes 2-3 times before they are completely clean, but this detergent washes them so effectively that I only need to wash them once. I also normally need to use a lot of baby shampoo, but I only need a few drops of this detergent to start lifting the makeup from deep in the bristles. This product doesn't foam a lot, so don't feel like you need to keep applying more product until it foams. This has cut down on brush cleaning time and has made a long and annoying process turn into a quick and quite an enjoyable process.

I have since done a bit of research on this detergent, and there are quite a few people who think it's great for sponges and synthetic brushes, but think it is too harsh on natural fiber brushes. So if you have a full set of Hakuhodo brushes then I would invest in a more expensive and gentle brush cleaner, but if you have synthetic brushes, or you struggle getting your beauty blender clean, then I highly recommend this detergent from Daiso.

Oh I thought I should add that you get this near the makeup section, it is right near the beauty sponges. There are quite a lot of beauty sponges there, so once you spot them you will find this easily! Daiso can be very hard to navigate :)

  1. Wow, so excited to purchase this. It's funny how I am always in Daiso but always seem to miss this! Which aisle/section did you get this from?
    Great post by the way!

  2. Yes! I was using baby shampoo, but I was finding it so frustrating!
So I also went out and bought a Daiso one and I haven't looked back since!
And it works so well on my beautyblenders! I was really surprised that it was so effective on them.

Such a cheap, wonderful item :)

  3. I have heard quite a bit about this and it sounds so great for only $2.80! Every time I go to my Daiso in search of this, and it's always sold out (Granted I'm not able to go often)! I really hope it's there next time I go. I've seen this in the blue bottle on other blogs/youtubes though? Do you know if there is any difference? They seem like the same product.

    1. I was worried that this wasn't the blue one either, because thats the only one I have seen being reviewed online. I think this pink one is the same but just new packaging, because I looked everywhere for the blue one and there was only the pink one around.

  8. Sounds great! I have used many cleansers in the past, my current favourite is the Dove beauty bar, I just swirl my brush on top and it cleans really well! I do like the sound of this though, so I'm going to check this out the next time I'm at Chaddy. :)

  9. I just bought this and thought it was fab also! I usually hate cleaning my brushes and also put off doing it knowing that the longer I leave it the worse it gets but since using this took a fraction of the time to clean even my F80 which is usually the worst! I wasn't sure this would be the right one as it wasn't the blue bottle but definitely going back next week to pick up a few more now I know it works so well.
