The Skincare TAG

August 21, 2013

I was tagged to do "The Skincare Tag" by the lovely Sophie from Born to Buy, check out her skincare tag post here.
Describe your skincare routine in five words..
Extensive but enjoyable, spot control.

What's your skin type?
Oily combination, spot prone, trying to prevent aging!

What's your favourite skincare product?
The product that I look forward to applying most each morning/night is a rosehip oil or a good serum. My favourite rosehip oil is the one by Kosmea, and I am currently using the Estee Lauder Perfectionist [CP+] serum which is really nice (but expensive). They feel quite luxurious and are really nice to apply. These aren't my most needed skincare products however, I think I could live without a serum/oil but I can't live without a good cleanser and moisturiser.

Top blemish zapper?
This is a no brainer for me... the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion is like a gift from the gods.

Face wipes, yay or nay?
Nay, I only use them to keep my hands clean when I am doing my makeup.

Toner, yay or nay?
Yay, but I am pretty slack with toner... it is the one thing that I always have on my sink but I don't use every day.

High end skincare or high end makeup?
I guess high end makeup, mainly because I feel that my high end makeup is more special than my high end skincare. I also think there is a big difference between cheap makeup and high end makeup, whereas the distinction isn't as obvious with skincare.

What's the most unusual skincare product you've tried?
I don't know... I guess I have tried some weird masks, like the ones where you have to mix the powder with water and it creates a concrete like mask on your face where you have to peel it off... I don't understand those masks!

You're in a French pharmacy and can only pick one item - what is it?
Probably the Caudelie Beauty Elixir because I have heard so much hype about it. My other answer would have been La Roche-Posay, but you can now easily get that at Priceline these days.

Tell us your top skincare tip.
My skincare tip is mainly for people who have oily combination skin like me. The tip is to embrace oils, because the more good oils you put on the skin, the less your skin will produce bad oils!

  1. I've heard that putting oil on oily skin works really well but I've always been too paranoid about it anyway. I've started using Rose hip oil recently and haven't noticed a difference in my oily skin but it does really moisturise my skin so hopefully it works over time. x

  2. Love your tip, totally agree with it! I used to shy away from using oils because of my oily skin but it's actually pretty good and it hasn't been as oily.

  3. Thank you for tagging me! :) I am so jelly of your Estee Lauder serum, what I treat that would be to have!

  4. I've heard so many good things about Mario Badescu, especially their range of blemish/spot treatments. I think I'm ready to order a few things!
I used to use either jojoba or rosehip oil, but found that it just wasn't moisturising enough - I still had dry patches :(

  5. Thanks for the Tag! Great post, I really want to try the Mario Bedscu range it looks good

  6. Love those two Kosmea serums, I use them every day. (:
