August Bellabox 2013

August 20, 2013

I received my August Bellabox today! The box was sitting on my doorstep when I got home from work, and it felt like a pretty heavy box this month... lets see whats inside!

Bellabox is a beauty subscription box that costs $15 a month, and you can sign up here.

The theme of this month is "Get Active!"... which is a nice reminder that I haven't exercised since starting my new job... almost 6 weeks ago eeek! I need to do something about that asap! All the price information and descriptions of the products are on the card above, and click on it to see a larger image.

Banana Boat Mineral Protect Sensitive SPF 30+ Sunscreen - full size: This is the first full size product of the box. I really like the idea of a sensitive mineral sunscreen, and I totally get the "get active" connection. I don't use body sunscreen regularly, but this will come in handy for summer.

Ultraceuticals Ultra CC Cream Mineral Tint SPF 30 - 5ml sample: CC creams and BB creams are all the rage these days, and even though I prefer to wear a medium coverage foundation on a daily basis, I do love light weight foundations - so if I can find a better alternative to a foundation, I will jump on it! This is a brightening and protecting CC cream and I can't wait to give it a go. A 5ml sample is also a pretty good size, I will definitely get a few wears out of this little tube. This is in the shade medium and I have included swatches later in this post.

Maybelline New York Dream Pure BB Cream for Oily Skin - full size: This is quite funny that they included this in the box, not only did I buy this exact BB Cream last week (same shade and everything) but I was considering going back to Priceline and buying a backup while it was still on sale! I have been using this for the past few days, and it is a nice BB cream, it applies easily, it smooths over pores, and it has good oil control. My only issues with it is that it is both light in colour and light in coverage. I need to use a medium in this BB cream (I am normally a light), but the light in this range will suit people with ivory skin... it is way too light for me. So if you have skin darker than mine then you may struggle using this. If it is too light for you, then just use it as a brightening primer, since it does smooth pores and it provides oil control. The swatches of this BB cream are below. This is also light in coverage, and it difficult to build up, so it is a nice BB cream for when you want light coverage, but it if you want to use this instead of your normal foundation, you may want to use quite a bit of concealer with it.

L'Oreal Base Magique Primer - 5ml sample: I was really happy to see this, I love sampling primers because primers are pretty expensive, and I hate buying a full size and not liking it. This is a large sample too, its 5ml and the full size is 15ml, so this sample will last a few weeks and is worth around $10! This is supposed to smooth pores, help makeup last longer, and absorb oil! This sounds perfect for me. I am wearing this today, so I will see how it goes. If I love this, I will buy it because I am in the market for a good primer!

Tom Organic Tampons - 2 pack: This is a natural and organic version of a tampon. I never really thought that I needed organic tampons, but I guess its a good idea, and there is definitely a market for it. I don't know why tampons are named Tom, but hey, I can run with it (EDIT TOM stands for "time of the month", smart!)

Aphelia Oasis Hebal Acne Solution - 2ml sample: I don't know too much about this, but I love natural acne remedies because I do still suffer from spots even as an adult. I will try this and get back to you guys about it.

Pevonia Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser - 5ml sample: I haven't used this yet, but I will add in a little review as soon as I do. This is a small tube, so I think this will last me only 2-3 washes.

Overall, I love this box! I think it is completely suited to me and my problem skin! I also love the two full size products. I will use every product in this box! I love it, great box!

If you want to join Bellabox, then you can join up here. I am currently uploading an opening video too, so stay tuned for that!

  2. That's a lot of good products this month. Yeah I totally agree with primers. A good sample is always useful. Tom = time of the month? Maybe that's why?

  3. I wish I got the BB Cream D: But still happy with my box mostly. Most of mine don't really fit in with the Active theme :\ Still nice products though! Also those tampons are called TOM because it's short for Time Of Month. Pretty clever :) But I don't like them - I've used them before :|

  4. Wow I much prefer your box over mine! A full sized bottle of sunscreen is pretty useful, and on top of that the Maybelline bb cream!
