May 2013 Empties

June 2, 2013

I feel like I need to justify why I go through so many products each month... I can assure you that I don't just pour these down the sink! Most of these are samples, so I will try to churn through my review of each of these, otherwise this will be a very long post!

The first photo of empties is from when I was in Japan... I really didn't want to carry home empty products just for an empties post, but I did take a photo. I also did an empties video, but I only included the products that I had with me, so I didn't talk about the products that thew away in Japan.

Empties from Japan

Garnier Body Intensive 7 Days Hydrating Lotion for Normal Skin: This has been kicking around my bedroom for ages, and I finally used it up. I loved the scent, very fresh, but I normally only use moisturiser on my legs - and this isn't thick enough for my legs. I did start using this on the rest of my body, and I really did like it, it wasn't greasy of heavy. I would consider repurchasing this eventually. Repurchase: Yes

Sasy n Savy Rose Lavender Hand n Nail Repair Creme: I dislike rose and I hate lavender, but this was a nice soft floral scent that I actually liked. This was a nice consistency and didn't leave your hands greasy... I used this a lot at work and I had many people say they they loved the smell. Repurchase: Yes

Olive Shower Gel with Extra Virgin Olive Oil sample: This was just a sample, but it was pretty nice. It has a nice soft scent that a lot people may love... I personally love a heavily scented body wash. If you like a natural body wash, check this out. Repurchase: Probably not

Grown Camellia & Geranium Blossom Hydrating Cream sample: I really enjoyed using this moisturiser, it had a nice orange oil scent and it was just really nice and thick... a great night cream. Repurchase: Yes, would consider it if I saw it in store

Batiste Dry Shampoo in Blush sample: I don't use dry shampoo too much now that I have short hair, but I thought I would bring this traveling so I didn't have to wash my hair too much. I have used Batiste heaps but if I bought a new dry shampoo soon (which I won't need to as I have a full bottle of this under my sink), I would want to try a different brand for curiosity sake. Repurchase: Not any time soon

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Synchronised Complex sample: I know a lot of people like this, but I never see a difference when I use eye creams, so I wouldn't repurchase this (for the next few years) until I feel that I really need an expensive eye cream. Repurchase: No

Bioderma Crealine H2O sample: I do think that Bioderma removes makeup well, but I don't think it is worth the $30 that it retails for. You can get great makeup removers for around $10. Repurchase: No

Marc Jacobs Daisy sample: I love Marc Jacobs perfumes, and after sampling this I will definitely buy this when I see it on sale! It is a nice soft fresh floral scent. Repurchase: Yes

Korres White Tea Facial Cleanser sample: This is a gel cleaner that has a really nice refreshing scent. Normally I dislike Korres skincare, and normally Korres is really expensive in Australia, but I would buy this if I saw it on sale. Repurchase: Yes, if I saw it on sale

Korres Pomegranate Scrub sample: This was actually a nice scrub! It looked very creamy so I didn't think it would do much, but it had a deceptively good amount of scrubbing particles in it. Repurchase: Yes

Korres Pomegranate Cream-Gel sample: I don't remember this moisturiser, so.... Repurchase: No

Other Empties

Colgate NeutraFluor 220: I use this mouthwash because it has fluoride in it and I need to it help keep my teeth strong while I have braces. Repurchase: Yes

Norsca Anti-White Clear Sport Antiperspirant Deodorant: I love this deodorant, I like using sports deodorants because they last longer, and this doesn't smell as masculine as normal sports deodorants and it doesn't leave white marks. I have two of these under my sink, so... Repurchase: Yes, already have

One Skin System Renewel Cleanse: This is a cream cleanser, and usually I hate cream cleansers - I think they are like rubbing moisturiser into your face - but this one is pretty nice and it smells like zingy lemon! If I ever craved a cream cleanser, I would buy this one, but I am fine for now. See my initial review of this here. Repurchase: Not at the moment

AM/PM Anti-Wrinkle Complex: My Mum gave me this, I think she ordered a few from TV or something. This is a really thick moisturiser that is as thick as Philadelphia Cream Cheese, which I like as a night cream but not as a day cream, but this has an SPF of 15 which I like for a day cream but not a night cream. This moisturiser just confuses me... and it stings my eyes slightly. I love the thickness, but thats about it. Repurchase: No

Sukin Certified Organic Rose Hip Oil: This was an ok rosehip oil, but I much prefer the one by Kosmea. Repurchase: No

Carmex Strawberry Lip Balm: I LOVE original Carmex, but I hated this strawberry one. It smells nice, but is thinner than the original, and also tastes like perfume. Mind you, I bought this off ASOS, so maybe the one in Australia is slightly nicer... who knows! Repurchase: Hell no!

Palmers Cocoa Butter Foot Magic: I really liked this stuff! It is a typical thick, greasy, and minty smelling foot balm. The thing I love about this is that I don't like wearing socks to bed, and this is the only foot cream that I have tried that I can put on at night without socks and still feel on my feet the next morning, so clearly it keeps your feet moisturised all night. Repurchase: Yes

Lancome Hypnose Star sample: I loved this mascara, the only thing that I disliked about it was the wand. The brush tapers in at the end and gathers a lot of product - so if you want to use the end to define the lashes, you can't do it without adding too much product. Aaanyway, I love this stuff, it adds so much length and volume and it gives you those super bold lashes without your lashes getting too clumpy. Repurchase: Yes!

Revlon Grow Luscious Plumping Mascara: Man, I hated this shit! It is too watery, and it never becomes a good consistency, not even when it does start to dry out. This doesn't make your lashes grow, it doesn't add any length or volume... it does nothing and then all of a sudden it clumps your lashes into 4 chunky strands. Repurchase: Hell no!

Eye Of Horus Mascara: I loved this mascara too! It has one of those plastic spiky brushes and it is just good! It lengthens, adds volume, and separates. I love this and would repurchase it for sure. See my full review of this here. Repurchase: Hell yes!

Kosmea Clarifying Facial Wash and Replenishing Moisture Cream samples: These smell like a herbal rose scent which is not the most appealing scent, but isn't unpleasant. The cleanser wasn't bad, but I preferred the moisturiser, which was nice and light and mixed well with a sunscreen. I wouldn't run out to buy either of these, but I would use them again without complaints. Repurchase: Moisturiser maybe

Ocean Essence Coconut Body Milk sample: A milk is a great way to describe this, it is very thin but quite hydrating. I am not a coconut fan but it does luckily smell more like vanilla. I don't generally buy thin moisturisers, but if I wanted one I would consider buying this. Repurchase: Yes

Aveda Invati Exfoliating Shampoo and Thickening Conditioner samples: I got this in the April Lust Have It box and the full size bottles of these retail for nearly $50 each! The price alone would stop me from buying these, but they weren't impressive products anyway. The shampoo smells like the tar shampoos that people use when they have scalp issues and they leave my hair feeling anything special. Repurchase: Hell no!

La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo sample: This was from the May Bellabox, and even though this 3ml samples was way too small for me to decide whether I like the product or not, I did end up ordering two of these with the 25% off voucher that came in the Bellabox. I bough these purely because I have heard so many good review of this product. Repurchase: Already have

Molton Brown Patchoule and Saffron Body Wash sample: I liked the scent of this, it was warm and it smelled of insense or spices, which was a nice change from my normal fruity body washes. It didn't impress me enough to want to spend $39 on the full size. Repurchase: No

AYA Sugar Wax Me Tropical and Mango Scrub sample: I loved using this! It was a scrub that is full of sugar and was really really effective. I am a person who loves my body scrub to really scrub - and this did that! I will track this down and buy it! Repurchase: Yes!

Clinique Repairwear Uplifting SPF 15 Firming Cream sample: Normally samples don't really convince me to buy a product, but I was instantly impressed with this product. This sample only lasted 2-3 uses, and I don't remember why I loved it so much, but I made a mental note to buy this full size! Hopefully I will buy it some time soon so I can remember why I liked it! Repurchase: I guess so!

Faaark, that took ages to write! I need to start stream lining my empties posts! Anyway, leave a comment if you have used any of these products and liked/disliked them.

  7. Is that Lancome mascara scented? I have the Hypnose Doll Eyes and oh my god the rose scent is awful! So unnecessary!
