June 2013 Empties

June 29, 2013

Another month, another empties post. This month I some how finished up a record number of products! I have no idea how I got through enough empties to fill up a basket! I had to be quite strategic this month, because if I had to write a post on all of the products and samples I used up, this will literally take me 5 hours to write! I decided instead to only review the full size products, and I also took out the boring things like roll on deodorants/toothpaste/dental floss etc. I did do an empties video where I went through everything in my empties basket, so if you want to see all of the products I reviewed, you can see them below.

Listerine: I love Listerine, I even used to love the Listerine toothpaste back in the day when it was available. Listerine just tastes good, and it is really strong so it feels like it cleans really well. I don't often buy Listerine mouthwash because its like double the price of normal mouthwash, but I bought this one in Japan and it cost under $3 which is about half the price of what it costs in Australia. I have bought a couple of small Listerine bottles since I finished this. Repurchase: Yes

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish: This is a super thick cream cleanser that smells strongly of eucalyptus oil. I thought that this cleans really well, and the eucalyptus scent really helps to wake me up in the morning. I did like using this and I would love to buy it again, but it is hard to get in Australia so I probably won't track this down just yet. See my initial review here. Repurchase: Yes

Swisse Shampoo and Conditioner: I bought these when they were on sale for around $9 for the two. These are full of good ingredients and are parabin free etc. These work well, and smell really nice and lemongrassy fresh, but they aren't very luxurious feeling. If I wanted a more natural shampoo and conditioner in the future, I wouldn't have a problem buying these again, but at the moment I like products that feel like salon quality products, and these aren't like that at all. Repurchase: Maybe

Lynx Anarchy For Her: This is a really nice smelling body spray, but sadly it's not an anti-antiperspirant. It it was an anti-antiperspirant, I would have no issue buying this again... but don't use body spays because I prefer an anti-antiperspirant with a perfume. This also has pretty bulky packaging so I can't just throw this in my bag and use it to refresh myself during the day. I did love the scent though. Repurchase: No

Escada Marine Groove Moisturising Body Lotion: This was a thin body lotion that had a very strong scent to it. This is supposed to match the perfume, so of course it will be quite strong scented, but I did like the scent so it was all good. The lotion itself wasn't anything special, so I won't track this down, but if you love the Escada scents you would like this. Repurchase: No

Urban Rituelle Organic Hand and Body Wash: This was a nice hand wash, it was really thin and watery, but it smells really nice. The scent was a herbal earthy vanilla scent which both my boyfriend and I both really liked. I would repurchase this, but I don't like spending much money on hand wash and I think this is around $25. Repruchase: No, too expensive

Batiste Dry Shampoo in Tropical: I have been using Batiste dry shampoo for years, and I have two travel size cans under my sink. When I need to buy more, I might start trying other brands, just for curiosity's sake, but I would buy this again in the future. Repurchase: Yes, but not in the near future.

Nivea Visage Pure and Natural Facial Cleansing Wipes: I bought these for traveling, and normally I don't like using makeup wipes because they make me really lazy with my skin routine. I only buy the travel size Yes To Cucumber wipes for my bag, in case I need to go to the gym or something like that. So I wouldn't repurchase these, only because I don't generally use them, and because the Yes To Cucumber ones are much better... they are more expensive, but because I rarely use them so it doesn't bother me. Repurchase: No

Lush Shower Gel in Ponch: I love Lush shower gels, but this isn't my favorite scent. This is very fruity and smells a bit like alcohol, which is a little weird. I happily used this up, but I would prefer to buy other ones instead of this. Repurchase: Maybe

Invisible Zinc Environmental Skin Protector: This stuff is amazing! I will have to write a review on it soon. This is a sunscreen that acts as a barrier and protects from UVA and UVB, but most importantly, it works better than a sunscreen AND I can wear it under my makeup and it does not make me greasy! This costs $35, which is crazy, but it works soooo well and this will easily last me 6 months to a year if I only use this every other day (which is what I do). Repruchased: Already have

Bourjois Healthy Mix in shade 51: This was way too light for me, but I got it last winter when I wanted to lighten some of my summer foundations. I also found this in the Priceline bargain bin for $10. I really liked this, it has a nice medium coverage, it smells nice, it has a nice finish, and it works really well with every foundation that I mixed it with. I would consider buying this again in the future, but of course in a different shade. Repurchase: Yes.

Bourjois Healthy Balance Unifying Powder in the shade 52: I love this powder, and will definitely repurchase it when it is on sale again. This is a finely milled powder that gives great coverage. You do need to buy this in a shade lighter than your foundation because once it hits your foundation it darkens. This shade was perfect for me. Repurchase: Yes.

Lush Melting Snow Man Bath Melt: I love using things like Lush bath bombs when I am having a bath. This melt was really good because I find bath bombs to be too big, but this is much smaller and still makes your bath smell great and feel really creamy. These only come out at Christmas, but I would repurchase. Repurchase: Yes.

The above products are the products that are almost full but I am throwing them out. I am throwing them out because I never really used them and they have been sitting in my cupboard for about two years, or more. The only one that I have used and didn't like was the Formula 10.0.6 No Time To Shine Mask, which I think stings too much and is too harsh for my skin... the other four are products that I barely used and can't say what I thought of them.

So that's it for another month of empties. If my empties basket is this full again in July, I will seriously be concerned about how many products I churn through.

Have you tried any of these products?

  1. On Thursday I bought the new formula of Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation, and they had a free powder with it!!! Maybe check your local Priceline to see if they have the promo. The free powder was labelled free "gift" and was sitting with the new foundation range.

    1. I will check that out! Thanks so much for the heads up!

  2. I wish I knew how to use dry shampoo... I bought the suave version, but I don't think i'm using it right!

    1. You'll get the hang of it... Just spray it in your roots and then brush it out

  3. I wasn't a huge fan of the body and skincare range that Swisse brought out- something about the package just didn't appeal to me! I love dry shampoo too, it's such a life saviour on the mornings where you wake up with bad hair. I love the Healthy Mix foundation as it smells amazing and applies so well, with a nice light coverage. I think I might need to try some Lush Bath Melts when it is Christmas time!

  4. Woowwww how do you manage to finish so many products in a month? I find the scent for the Ponch shower gel a bit odd as well but it grew onto me.
