Whats on my nails - Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in 420 Pacific Blue
May 28, 2013
I bought this nail polish during the Chemist Warehouse sale (which ends in 2 days!). They are having 50% off all makeup and nail products, so this was $6.95 but I bought it for $3.47... I should have bought a few more! I went for Pacific Blue, because it is a really stunning cornflower blue shade, and it is raved about online so I wanted to see what all of the fuss was about!
This shade is a bright mid toned blue that has a hint of purple to it. Sadly the photos make this look a bit brighter and bluer than what it looks like in real life, but take my word for it when I say that it is a really fun colour that would suit warmer weather and cooler weather.
One thing that I wanted to quickly mention is that I love the shape of this brush! This is the first of the Xtreme Wear range of nail polishes that I own, and this is my new favourite brush shape. What I like about it is that it is the same size as normal nail polish brushes, but instead of flaring out at the end, it is straight up and down (does anyone know what I mean?). What I personally like about this is that I find that it allows for more of an accurate application than the flared brushes.
BAM! Here's the colour! This is two coats and a top coat, but this polish is opaque in one coat. Like I said before, it is hard to capture the true shade on camera but this will have to do. In real life this is slightly more muted and has a slightly more purple hint to it. If you get to see this nail polish in store, the colour in the bottle is a good representation of how it ends up looking on the nails.
I was really excited to buy this nail polish, until I got home and I realised that it is almost identical to Face Of Australia's Ocean Villa. This shade is no longer available, so if you missed out on getting Ocean Villa, Pacific Blue is a pretty close dupe. I would say that Pacific Blue has a tiny bit more white in it, giving it a more pastel look and making it more opaque, and it also looks like it has a more purple tint to it. I personally like the Pacific Blue shade more, but when you have it on your nails, they both look very similar.
I don't yet know how well this nail polish lasts without chipping, but all of the other Sally Hansen nail polishes that I own can easily last a few days without wear and tear, and 4-5 days if you wear it with a good top coat.
What do you think of this shade? Are there any other shades from this range that you recommend?
