Empties March 2013

April 5, 2013

Hey guys! I was really hoping I was going to make a favourites video and an empties video this month but I went away for the Easter weekend and then when I came back I got food poisoning and am still feeling a little rubbish. I might try to hold onto these empties for a few more days to see if I can do a empties video over the weekend. For those few people who actually asked to see more videos, I promise I will make more of an effort to post more videos soon!

On to my rubbish...

Swisspers 130 Coloured Cotton Tips: You won't find Swisspers in my empties too often, because I think the cheaper brands are just as good, even if they don't have a fancy purple stem. I bought these for 88 cents when they were on sale in Target, I bought two at the time, but I wish I bought more! Cotton tips and cotton pads are a staple in my bathroom. Repurchase: Yes, if on sale

Nivea Invisible For Black And White 48 Hour Gentle Care: This is a roll on deodorant that I got in a gift pack when I went to Melbourne Spring Fashion Week last year. I have two of these (my boyfriend didn't want his :P) so this will come up in my empties some time in the future again. I really liked the scent of this - its quite clean and fresh smelling, and I really like that this doesn't create any white marks on black or any yellow marks on white. To be completely honest, I didn't actually test that claim... so I mainly liked the scent and the promise it gives. This comes in a glass container which feels good quality (and you get to see how much is left in the container), but it is quite heavy. Overall it's not too bad, but like most roll ons it didn't give me 48 hour protection, or anything close! Repurchase: Possibly

Priceline Cotton Pads 100 Pack: This comes up in all of my empties posts, so yes I would repurchase - they do the job and they are cheap! Repurchase: Yes, in bulk

Colgate NeutraFluor 220: This has been popping up in my favourites ever since I got braces. This is a mouthwash that contains fluoride to help strengthen teeth. I will be buying this until I get my braces off :P. Repurchase: Yes, in bulk

Norsca Superior Anti-White Marking Clear Sport Anti-Perspirant Deodorant: I always buy a couple of these when they are on sale. They work well (especially the sport one) and they smell really nice (this one smells a little like baby powder, which I like). Repurchase: Yes, in bulk

Korres Showergel in Guava: I bought two of these on strawberrynet when they were on sale for like $9 for the huge 400ml bottle, and usually they are $20+ in store for the small bottle. I wasn't super impressed by this, and it took me a good 6 months to use this up (I kept using up other shower gels instead). The scent is ok, but it doesn't smell like guava, instead it almost smells a bit like marzipan, and it also doesn't foam very well. It's useable, but it's not something I would recommend. I would say to smell this in store before you buy it, because it is a scent that some people may love, but others may hate. You might see my second one featured in a empties post in a year from now. Repurchase: No

Swisse Shampoo with Pro-Vitamin B5 and Passionflower and Conditioner with Pro-Vitamin B5 and Avocado: These came in a pack, and I bought two of the packs in Chemist Warehouse when they were on sale for $8 or $9. I bought these because I absolutely love the Swisse hand cream, it is probably my favourite hand cream ever! I love the scents of the shampoo and conditioner, they smell fresh and lemon/lemongrassy, but I wasn't too overly impressed with the formula. The conditioner was nice and I have no complaints, but the shampoo was pretty runny and it needed quite a lot of product to create a lather (and I have short hair). I will happily use my other set, but I don't think these are worth the price tag - these are usually a whopping $15 each. If you do prefer to put natural products in your hair, then these are probably a good option for you, but I personally like more luxurious feeling hair products, even if they contain bad ingredients. Don't disregard this Swisse range though, I highly recommend the hang cream! Repurchase: Maybe, if on sale

Palmer's Aloe Vera Formula with Vitamin E: I bought this a couple of Summers ago when I got quite sun burnt. This was ok, but nothing special. I don't like these moisturising gels anyway, so I can't really say if its good or bad. Repurchase: No

Lush Snow Fairy Shower Gel: I love this stuff, and I try to stock up around Christmas. I only managed to pick up two small bottles in the Boxing Day sales, but I have a few big bottles of other limited edition scents. This is super sweet, so it won't be for a lot of people, but I think it smells like banana lollies, and I really like it. Repurchase: Yes

Oxy 5 Vanishing Pimple Medication Cream: This used to be my go to spot treatment before I discovered the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion (see review here). I haven't used this since buying the Mario Badescu one because the Mario Badescu one is more effective and is much more gentle. This Oxy one does work after a few applications, but it dries the crap out of your skin, and that takes days to recover from. This isn't an empty, but I am just throwing it out since I won't use it again. Repurchase: No

Skin Solutions Clarifying Cleansing Gel: I got this sample in a Bellabox and I really wanted to buy a full size, but when I went to order it, I accidentally bought the scrub instead of the clarifying gel ARGH! Once I save up a few more Bellabox points, I will probably attempt to buy this again. Purchase: Yes

NUXE Huile Prodigieuse: I also got this sample from a Bellabox and I did buy the full size. I really like having multipurpose oils in my bathroom, I use them on dry parts of my skin, in my hair, and even on my face after a shower. This one is a dry oil, so it doesn't leave you feeling oily, and it also smells really nice! Purchase: Already have

Pharmaoil Scrub: This is a sample that I got from Pharmaoil, which is an Australian brand that sells oil based skincare. This scrub was really scrubby (good) but it left an oily residue (bad). Purchase: Probably not

Burt's Bees Rejuvenating Lip Balm with Acai Berry: This was bitter sweet finishing this, I love moving on to new products, but I really liked this lip balm. This is one of the only Burt's Bees Lip Balms that I would recommend (along with the original one), I hated the other two that I have tried (see review here). This smells sweet like berries, is clear and leaves a natural look to your lips, and really nourishes your lips. This was the lip balm that I kept on my desk at work. I will miss you lip balm! Repurchase: Yes, once I finish numerous other lip balms.

So that's my rubbish for March. Have you used any of these products, what did you think?

  3. I still cannot believe how many products you get through! Such a shame about the Korres Showergel. I was actually thinking of picking it up - however I will definitely stay away after reading this! haha!

  4. Wow so my empties! I would be surprised if I ever get through that many products in a month. Might decide to give the clarifying cleansing gel sample a try, seems worthy if it made you want to purchase the full product!

  5. This is an impressive amount of empties! I'm almost finished my bottle of Snow Fairy, going to be a little bit sad when I do but I think it will make it all the more special to have only a few months of the year! xx
