Whats in my weekend away beauty bag?

March 30, 2013

I am going away for the weekend and decided to do a quick whats in my weekend bag blog post. I find going away for the weekend a great way to use up some samples. Generally I like to use samples as soon as I get them (I guess I am pretty rare), but lately I have been saving some of them for holidays. I got this see through makeup bag from the David Jones gift thing (see post here), and I love that you can see where everything is. I also put my brushes in a zip lock bag because I didn't want them to get squished.

Suigo Absolute Volume Shampoo and Conditioner: I love this shampoo and conditioner and I have been using them all week and they aren't even nearly finished... gotta love 60ml samples! I will reviewing these samples soon, these are perfect for a "salon" feel but at home.

Travel toothbrush: I got this from the orthodontist and I keep it in my handbag, very handy and travel friendly.

Colgate Optic White: I didn't get a chance to track down a mini toothpaste, so I am taking my beloved Colgate Optic White. I love this toothpaste.

Colgate Plax Mouthwash: This isn't actually Plax in the bottle, I top this mini container up with whatever mouthwash I have in the bathroom and I usually keep it in my handbag.

Rexona Naturals roll on deodorant: This is the roll on deodorant that I keep in my handbag in case I need to have a refresh during the day. This deodorant smells nice, but I don't use if often so I don't know how long it lasts.

Palmolive Luscious Mango Body Wash: I got this from a Bellabox a while ago and never bothered to use it. I no doubt will give a review of it when it ends up in my empties post.

Bandaids: Just in case there's any blisters.

De Lorenzo Elements Mudslide: Ok, I need to have a product to style my hair so I am taking a full size product. The boyfriend will be using this too so it works well. This is a putty type product that works well for styling my pixie cut, and doesn't feel greasy.

Bioderma Creline H2O sample: Just in case I have hard to budge makeup I thought I would bring this cute little Bioderma sample. Note to self: pack cotton makeup remover pads!

Ocean Essence Coconut Body Milk: I got this in the latest Bellabox I think... It's handy having a body moisturiser for after a shower.

Nivea Energy Fresh 24 Hour Anti-perspirant: This is a mini spray deodorant that I also keep in my handbag, perfect for traveling!

Invisible Zinc: We'll be outside a lot, and this is the only suncreen that doesn't leave me feeling greasy, and it is the only one that also actually stops me from getting burnt... most other ones just reduce the burn. This is amazing, but because it is so expensive, I only use it on my face.

Ella Bache Great 50+ Sportsblock Active sunscreen: I thought I would bring this for my body, but I don't know if it will be enough. I might have to bring a backup tube of suncreen too. This is 50 SPF and waterproof, so I am interested to see how well it works.

AWE Calming Serum sample: I don't know what this is like, but I thought I should bring a serum like product just in case. Clearly it is hard for me to give up my extensive skin routing for the weekend!

NUXE Huile Prodigieuse: Since I am leaving my beloved rosehip oil at home, I thought I would bring this multipurpose oil as a subsitute. This works on your skin and hair so its a great multipurpose oil to have.

Marc Jacobs Daisy sample: In case I want to smell nice :)

Kosmea Daily Facial Exfoliant, Clarifying Facial Wash, Replenishing Moisture Cream: Here is where most of my daily face care is - my cleanser, exfoliant (in case I need it) and a moisturiser. I haven't tried these, but I like this brand because their rosehip oil is amazing!, so I am curious to try the rest of the range.

Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara and SauceBox Mascara: I should actually just bring a sample mascara, which I do have somewhere, but this is my current mascara combo. I find the Grow Luscious one is too wet and clumpy, but I am trying to use it up so I use it over the SauceBox one which does separate my lashes really well, and the Grow Luscious one adds a bit of volume.

Laura Mercier Eye Basics: I think this in the shade Wheat, but the label has come off so I'm not too sure. This is a skin toned eye product that has no shimmer, and you can wear on its own or you can wear it as a primer. I think its a really nice product because it looks natural but it also blanks out the eyelid and creates a nice canvas for eyeshadow. A primer is definitely needed with the Naked Basics palette so this is the one I chose.

Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer: I don't use concealer everyday, but this is a just in case my skin looks rubbish product.

Max Factor Xperience Weightless Foundation: I love this foundation, it is really easy to apply and is really comfortable. I chose this one because it's super easy to apply with your hands and it's definitely low maintenance. See review here

Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette: This is my new baby, and it is a basic eyelook in one mini palette, perfect for travelling. It has nude shades, crease shade, eyebrow shade, black and a highlighter - bam! everything you need! See review here

Bourjois Healthy Balance powder: This the powder I have been using lately so I decided to bring it along. It is also really thin and compact, and it gives a bit of extra coverage, which works well with my Max Factor foundation which is a light-medium coverage foundation. See review here

NARS Laguna and Orgasm minis: I probably won't both with contouring etc, but this is just in case I go out for dinner and want to look a bit more put together. See review here

MAC Cream Colour Base Movie Star Red: I love this on the cheeks, it lasts all day, and adds a nice pop to your makeup with a neutral eye. This also doubles as a red lip if I was planning on wanting to look a little more glam. See review here

Benefit Creasless Cream Shadow/Liner in Marry Up: I can't leave this at home! This is my favourite eye product, and if I am in a rush then all I need is this and some mascara and my eye makeup is done. The shade is lovely and it lasts all day without creasing (unlike Maybelline Colour Tattoos which needs a shadow over the top).

MUA Eyebrow Pencil in Blonde: This is easy to throw on, but I think it is a little too orange toned, so I will add some brown shadow from the Naked Basics Palette over the top.

Smashbox Limitless Eyeliner in Espresso: This is a really smooth pigmented liner that is easy to apply, it also has a sharpener on the lid. Handy.

Physicians Formula Black Shimmer Strips: This liner lasts all day without smudging. I thought I would bring a black in case we go out for dinner etc, but otherwise I will use the brown. See review here

Real Techniques Accent Brush: I was going to leave this at home, but when I used all of these products today (testing to see if I needed anything else), I realised that I didnt have a brush that I could apply an inner corner highlight with.

Real Techniques Base Shadow Brush: This is one of my favourite Real Techniques brushes. It is really tapered and thin, so it works well applying a crease colour or a darker shadow on the lash line.

Real Techniques Deluxe Crease Brush: This is perfect for both applying a wash of colour over the lid, and also blending.

Everyday Minerals Angled brush: This is a super thin angled brush that works well for eyebrows and to apply a shadow on your lashline.

Artiste Professional Contour Brush: I use this for applying my cream blush, and although I generally like to use one to apply and the other to blend, I will try to make do with just the one brush.

Elf Blush Brush: I thought I would bring this just in case I did want to use the powder blush or contour... I just realised that I didn't bring a highlight... hmmmm I might need to add that.

Lust Have It Kabuki brush: I use kabuki brushes for applying powder. I like a lot of powder because I get quite oily, so I like to use a dense brush to really set the foundation well.

That is all! I do think I might have to find a highlight to bring though... not that I really need it. Is anyone else going away this weekend? What are your must haves to bring with you?
I hope you all have a great long weekend!

  4. Going travelling is definitely a great way to use up all those sample products that are piling up. The Nars mini blushes look so cute! I never knew they were available in a smaller size?
