Lust Have It Box January 2013

January 29, 2013

I have been waiting and waiting for my Lust Have It box this month, and I feel as though these days I am getting them much later than most people... which never used to happen. Anyway I was really excited to come home to this, but sadly one thing in this box sort of pissed me off and put me in a bit of a shitty mood, so sorry if this post is a little negative.

Lust Have It used to give out their monthly boxes in makeup bags, and after collecting about five of them, I am happy to see that they have changed their packaging. The boxes now come in... well... a box, and I believe there will be a range of these boxes (correct me if I am wrong). This one is pink, white and floral and could be recycled as a nice gift box, or you could even stack these on a book shelf and use it for storage, which is what I will probably do.

So this is a pretty well stocked box, it comes with a kabuki brush (which is what I am most excited about), a full size bb cream, and a full size lip gloss. As this box costs $15 per month, if you were to use all of these products then you're getting pretty damn good value. There is also a sachet of sunscreen, shampoo and conditioner, and sample bottles of Avene's Cleanance skin range.

Nude By Nature BB 5-in-1 Miracle Cream in the shade Dark - full size: Ok so lets get this out of the way! I was excited to try a new BB cream, especially since this is a full size product and I have never tried Nude By Nature, but I got the shade dark and I am generally a light, so this is the biggest waste of a BB cream! I will probably just throw this out! This would have been the most exciting product in this box but instead it made me feel like I am wasting $15 each month. If a beauty box is going to send full size makeup base products PLEASE ask what shade people are because this is ridiculous! If it were a sample, I could mix it with lighter products to get my shade, but as it is, I would have to buy two light BB Creams just so I could lighten this product... and I'm not going to do that! I feel pretty let down, and I have been a Lust Have It supporter for a long time, but I am at the end of my tether, and if it weren't for my annual subscription, I would be seriously considering unsubscribing.

So this is the packaging, I can't tell you what its like because I will never use it! I did open it however, so I could swatch it for you guys... and this is swatched on my arm, which has fake tan on it so my face is actually a bit lighter than my arm at the moment! There is no way I will use this rubbish, it will look like I have smeared chocolate mousse on my face. Rant over.

Lust Have It Kabuki Brush: On to the best thing about the box, the Kabuki Brush! I love using Kabuki brushes when I powder my face, and this one feels nice and soft and pretty dense. Definitely excited about receiving this, because EVERYONE CAN USE THIS! This does smell a bit funky though, really plastic and synthetic.

Elle Bache Great 50+ Sportsbloc Active - 20ml sample: Ok so I might have another rant here... I like the idea of including a sunscreen, especially a SPF 50 one, which I have never used before and I think they have only recently been allowed on the Australian market, but if you are going to include a 20ml sample PLEASE do not put in it a sachet! What is wrong with a small squeezy tube which I can actually put in my handbag? This will be opened, used once or twice, make a huge mess and I will throw it out. Not super keen on even opening this at the moment.

Klorane Shampoo and Conditioner 10ml samples: I think I got these in a Bellabox a few months back, and I didn't like them too much because the shampoo didn't foam too well. Anyway I am happy to give them another go... and at least the sachet mess will be confined to the shower!

Avene Cleanance Skin Range - 5ml samples of the exfoliant and lotion and 25ml sample of the Cleanance Gel: I really like the idea of including a range of samples from the same line. I am definitely intrigued by all of these products - the cleanance gel, the anti-shine lotion and the exfoliant!

Silk Oil Of Morocco Moroccan Lip Gloss - full size: I liked the look of this because it looks like a really vibant red, but it comes out really sheer and has these weird red chunks in it (see swatch below). I am not a fan of sheer red glosses, because they look like red jelly on the lips, and I prefer a more opaque colour, and I am not impressed with the chunks. The best thing about this gloss is that it smells like peppermint tea.

Even though this was a well packed box, I found that I was pretty let down because the BB Cream was SOOO off the mark with the shade that I feel like I have wasted my money. Normally I am happy to try things out and give hair products a go that I normally wouldn't use etc, but on this occasion I just felt like I really can't make this work, and I have had enough! If you are going to send out full size BB Creams you must ask people what their skin tones are! The best thing about this box was the kabuki brush, but I don't think one brush will keep me subscribed in the future! To top it all off, I hear that other people got Lush makeup! I wish I got that instead of this chunky lip gloss!

Does anyone want a dark BB Cream that has been swatched once? Otherwise it will be binned!

  2. I can't believe they sent out dark BB cream! I'm pissed off right with youand I haven't even received my box! I only signed up at the start of the month and they sent me December's box as they had some leftovers... no biggie - loved it... but wait? Where is my Jan box? Oh, hadn't been charged for it and the message I left on their FB page got some smart remark from one of their workers that insinuated there must have been an 'issue' with my credit card!!! cheeky bitch!! well.. turns out that becuase they've already billed me in this month they weren't authorised to make another payment... (I'd already guessed this!) so not technically my credits fault at all!! they haven't even apologised, just told me payment has been taken and my box will be sent! kudos for the crap customer service :) {still secretly looking forward to the damn thing when it finally arrives though lol}

    1. That sounds like a lot of unnecessary hassle! I hope your box matches you better than mine did! Fingers crossed

  3. Oh, how frustrating! The Avene sample look nice, but the lip gloss is just weird, and I definitely feel your pain on the BB cream - every foundation and BB sample ever is too dark haha!

  4. You should send Lust Have It a message about the BB cream and see if they are able to send you out another one. Why would they send a dark... wouldn't it be smarter to send out a medium shade? -.-

    1. Agreed, I could work with medium

  5. Wow, when I saw the first picture I thought this would be a really good box! I was wrong! How annoying about that BB cream. If anything, they should of sent a Medium shade as it would suit a lot more people. I'm not a fan of sheer red lip gloss either for the same reason! Beauty boxes are losing their touch at the moment xx

    1. I know! Medium would have been much better! I am glad I am not the only person who thinks that about sheer red gloss

  6. It sucks that they don't have some kind of info thing for customers so that correct shades can be sent to everyone. I guess the bonus is that there is a lot in this box and you did get a few great things by the look of it!

  7. Oh Kathryn I would have been livid too if I had received the dark , ( I got the Medium which I am presuming will be fine if not will mix it with a little moisturiser ) and I got the Lush eyeliner but in Silver which I dont think I would use at all but I dont know if I would swap because I dont feel the need to pay postage on something I have already payed for .I liked the set of Avene too even though I am slightly sick of seeing it in eauty boxes .

    1. The response that I got from Lust Have It on the facebook page was to swap it... but I agree with you, I don't see why we need to pay for postage for something that we have already paid for!

  8. This month could have been great but this box kinda sucks compared to other's I've seen! It seem the people who got a light or medium shade also got things like blush and nail polish and Lush! I got the Avene trio a few months ago in my LHI (haven't used it because it's not for my skin type).

  9. It's a shame that BB cream is so far off your skin tone!

  10. Its a shame about the BB cream! Mines still on the way and now I'm a bit worried about what shade I'll get! I'm excited to try a kabuki brush though - I just lost mine so its good timing

  11. Can't wait to swap the BB creams with you... I can't find a BB cream that comes in my dark shade so I really get to miss out on all the BB cream hype. Fingers crossed this one is dark enough for me.

    1. It is rare to see a BB cream in dark. I am happy that it will be used and appreciated :) I will send it off today!

  12. Why do these companies ask you to fill out a survey when they don't even look at it to see your skin tone... so stupid.

  13. I really hope I don't get this box! I have already got the Avene products from previous boxes, as well as that shampoo and conditioner. And the BB cream looks awful! I can't believe how dark it is! Oh well... at least you'll get some use out of the other products?
At least the Kabuki brush is something anybody can use :)

  14. This really does look like a well-stocked box, but sorry to hear there were a few duds! Rare for BB Creams to be that dark. Am super curious to hear your thoughts on the Avene Cleanance line, though! :)

  15. I haven't received my box yet but i seriously hope it isn't this one. I got all those Avene products in a previous LHI and as much as I do like them I don't like the idea of repeat samples. & that BB Cream oh boy that is a shame they are going to have a few angry people messaging them.. I saw that one of the boxes contains Lush Emotional Brilliance I would love that box.
Great honest review as usual :)

    3. Thanks! Hopefully you will get the right shade for you!

    4. Maybe you could also mix it a little with your current foundation and see if that works! :)

  17. There are such a variety of boxes this time round. Mine was similar to yours...except I received the fair Nude BB which I will mix with the medium shade I have. I tend to be between fair and medium. I received a bright red/orange Lush lipstick, which is not a color I would use so will hopefully go to a good home with a work colleague. I heard some people received some silver/gold lush, which would have been my preference. I also received the shampoo and conditioner sachets -grrrr, but no avene products. ... you received the lipgloss in place of my lush. Sorry to hear your bb cream was so dark.

  18. Awww Kat, it's such a shame that the BB cream wasn't the right shade for you. Hopefully LHI can do something to customize future boxes so that you can actually use what you get in it. I was lucky enough to get the BB cream in medium which is what I would use and got a nice orange Lush lip colour. www.jacqfruit.wordpress.com
