December 2012 Empties

Yay empties time! These empties always creep up on me, and I always look at my empties basket thinking that I haven't used much up, but when when I lay it all out I always surprise myself.

Priceline Round Cotton Pads 100 pack: These are always in my empties posts, as these are the only cotton pads I have bought in the last year or so. They do they job, they are cheap and I always buy them in two packs. Will repurchase.

Garnier Clean Detox Gentle Brightening Scrub: I really liked this, it smells fresh and clean, it foams up like crazy, it strips all the gunk from your skin... but it's not a scrub. I did buy this as a face scrub, and was disappointed that it was such a weak scrub, but I soon got over that because I loved this as a cleanser. I doubt this will work well on people with dry skin, because it does strip your skin of all the oils, but I personally like that. This is pretty cheap (around $7 when not on sale), and there are two other cleansers in this range - a sensitive one and a foam. I might try one of the other ones before I buy this again, but I would consider repurchasing in the future. See my review of this scrub here.

Burt's Bees Coconut Foot Cream: This is one of those thick greasy foot creams that you put on at night, and I really did like using it, but I didn't feel like it did much for my feet. It had a coconut and peppermint scent which was really nice and tingly on your feet. I don't know why this didn't work for me, maybe this didn't work because I wasn't using it every night and because I only had a small tube? Nevertheless, I would like to say I would repurchase this, but I will definitely try other foot creams before giving this another go. I got this small tube from the Burt's Bees Head to Toe Kit.

L'Occitane Fleur Cherie Hand Cream: I got this little tube in a pack of three that was a Christmas present a while ago. I have used the other two up, but recently found this one hiding in my bag that I take to music festivals. This cream has a soft floral scent, and the cream is quite light and sinks into your skin nicely. I would consider buying another one of these, but I think I would try other scents... the verbena cooling hand cream looks more my style! For these 30ml tubes, they cost $12 each.

Swisse Hand Cream with Vitamin F and Pomegranate: This is a 30ml sample that I got in the November Bellabox. I love love love this hand cream, it is thick, sinks into your skin without leaving any greasy residue, and it smells fresh and zesty (mmm smells so good). I adore this, and am more than happy to buy another one, but the problem is that they aren't actually sold in this handy 30ml size. There is a 100ml size or a 500ml pump bottle, and I will probably buy the 100ml size, but its not very handbag friendly. This is the best hand cream I have used in ages though, and the 100ml is currently on sale at Priceline for $11... so I might head to the shops today :P

Revlon ColorStay Blemis Concealer in Medium: I bought this aaaages ago, back when I was quite tanned. I have used this a little bit recently, and it is nearly empty, but I decided to throw it out because its old, it is slightly too dark for me, and it's not a concealer I often reach for. I don't think I will repurchase this, it has a horrible chemical smell which I think put me off using it from the start... hopefully since I bought it they have changed the scent.

Sportsgirl To The Point Liquid Eye Liner: This is one of those pointed felt tip liners that make drawing a winged liner really easy, but can dry out pretty quickly. I really liked this liner, and I used it a lot because it was just so easy to use. This is one of the cheapest of these types of liners that I have seen... it costs $9.95, and the only other one that I have is a Bourjois one that costs $24, and I honestly like the Sportsgirl one more. I would repurchase as soon as I use up the Bourjois one.

MUA Eyebrow Pencil in Blonde: I love this pencil, and I am so glad I have a back up! It is a great light shade for natural every day eyebrows, and it is the cheapest pencil ever! It costs around $1.50, but you can only get it from the MUA website (but shipping isn't cheap) or you can look it up on ebay. The only problems with this pencil is that it can be a bit waxy and you need to brush it out to get a natural look, it is also so soft that you need to sharpen the pencil every second time you use this. Putting those aside, as soon as I place a new MUA order I will include 4 or 5 of these, because they are great value for money. I have the brunette one too, and it is far too dark and almost looks black. I would definitely repurchase this eyebrow pencil.

Garnier Clean Sensitive Gentle Eye Make-Up Remover: I loved the face version of this makeup remover (Clean Sensitive 2in1 Waterproof Make Up Remover) which is the one that has half oil and half liquid, but I used about 3 or 4 bottles of it and decided to try the eye version instead. This eye makeup remover is no where as good as the face version. The oil in the face makeup remover helps eye makeup melt off, whereas with this one you to need to rub quite a bit to get it off. Also the face version does not sting my eyes at all, whereas this one does a little. I would not repurchase this one, but I highly highly recommend the face one, which I think is even better than Bioderma and is like a quarter of the price. I need to purchase the face one today!

Maybelline The Falsies Volum' Express Flared: When I first bought this I wasn't too impressed, but the more I used it the more I loved it. It separates, lengthens and adds volume to your lashes and it also lasts for ages without drying up. I have a lot of back up mascaras, but as soon as I get through them I will definitely buy this one again!

Estee Lauder Perfectly Clean Fresh Balancing Toner: I got this with a gift with purchase at Estee Lauder (see post here). This toner was ok, it felt a little soapy and the bottle opening always made me apply too much on the cotton pad... so I wasn't too impressed with it. I can't see myself spending $45 on the full size.

MUA Pressed Powder in Shade 1: This is another winning product from MUA, and like the eyebrow pencil it costs $1.50 and you can only get it online. I was shocked at how good this was! It actually provided really nice coverage and I loved using it. I do have a back up, and like the eyebrow pencil, when I place my next MUA order I will get a few of these. My only problem with this is that you cant really take it with you in your bag because the container isn't very sturdy, and also it is the lightest shade but actually develops to darker than what it looks in the pan. That's fine for me, but if you have super pale skin, this won't work for you.

Estee Lauder Day Wear: I also got this in the gift with purchase, and I love this moitsuriser! This sample lasted me a good few months, and I have a large tub as a back up. It smells fresh like cucumbers, is light weight and just feels great on the skin. I haven't started using the large tub yet, but I will repurchase one of these every so often because I love the freshness of this moisturiser.

Garnier Fructis Styling Mousse Colour Resist: I bought this a while ago and I used it to give some volume at my roots. It did a pretty good job and it smells super fruity. If I wanted to buy another mousse I would consider getting this one again, but I don't use mousse too much.

These are my samples that I used up... I will try to go through them very quickly.

Dr LeWinn’s Skin Perfect Primer sample and Foundation sample in Beige: I also got this in the November Bellabox and I was putting off using these because I am not a big Dr Lewinn fan, but when I finally used these, I was pleasantly surprised! This shade was a little dark for me, but I found that the primer and foundation lasted impressively well and didn't make me look oily. I would definitely consider buying these one day when I have finished a few of my foundations.

Glasshouse Fragrances Hand Creme in Gardenia and Water Lily: I got these in the December Lust Have It box and they were ok... its really hard to make a decision about a product when you have such a small sample. I loved the smell of the Water Lily one, but wasn't a fan of the overly floral Gardenia. I wouldn't rush out to buy these any time soon.

Emergin C Multi-Fruit Cleanser and Protocell Cream: These were from the December Bellabox and they were ok. Honestly, I don't even remember what they were like... if they weren't that memorable, I definitely won't be buying them!

World Organic Juniper Berry Cleansing Face Wash and Almost Seed Face Exfoliant: I got these from the Lust Have It Summer Eco Box. The cleanser was ok, it had a nice fresh scent, but I am not generally a fan on cream cleansers. I did enjoy the exfoliant, which had tiny little granuels that worked pretty well, it also had a strange citrus almond scent that ended up really growing on me. If I were to repurchase any of these, it would be the exfoliant.

Allegra Rhodes Hand and Nail Cream in Sweet Apple and Grapefruit: I got this sample form the December Bellabox and I loved it! It smells just like DKNY Be Delicious perfume (which I love). It was a good hand cream, but I would purchase it for the scent... the container was also cute. I am very seriously considering spending some of my Bellabox points on the full size of this.

Dr. Hauschka Mellissa Day Cream: I also got this in the Lust Have It Summer Eco Box. I did enjoy using it, it was a nice day time moisturiser. The sample is quite small so its hard to decide whether I would want to spend $52 on the 30ml, probably not at this point, but it was nice to use.

Aveeno Day Moisturise Lotion: I used this on my legs and it was quite thick and moisturising. It is fragrance free, which I personally don't like so I wouldn't buy it, but its a good option for people who are sensitive to fragrances.

Anyway, that is the end... and boy that was long! Have you used any of these products?

Also check out my giveaway if you haven't entered already!

  4. Wow so many empties! Woo-hoo! Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one that enjoys finishing up a product, but I find it so rewarding when it served me well and I can't wait to bust open a new one LOL xx

  5. I really enjoyed the World Organic products from the summer eco box as well. I was surprised by almond seed exfoliant and how much I liked it. I also wish the Dr. Hauschka moisturiser was a tad bigger. I would repurchase if it was on sale :)
