Baby pink nail look using Revlon 230 Popular and China Glaze 862 Something Sweet

January 25, 2013

This is a quick look using two nail polishes that I have recently bought. The first one is China Glaze 862 Something Sweet and the other is Revlon 230 Popular. I was actually wearing Something Sweet when I bought Popular (see it in my recent haul) and decided to layer Popular over Something Sweet as an accent nail.

I was expecting Something Sweet to have a mauve tone to it, because thats how it looks in the bottle, but it actually is a true baby pink. This does apply quite streaky and you can get away with two coats, but for a more flawless finish you will need three coats. This does last a good 3 to 4 days with minimal chipping.

Popular is a sheer milky light pink shade with silver glitter of different sizes. The silver glitter actually looks more white on the nails because the milky polish mutes the silver.

Above is the look that I did with Something Sweet and Popular. I then took this polish off after a few days and decided to try Popular on its own. Below are photos of what Popular looks like with three coats. You can see that it is a sheer light pinky nude that doesn't built up to an opaque base. You can also see that the silver becomes a muted, almost white-ish glitter. I didn't know what to expect from this nail polish, and I did mainly buy it to layer it over other polishes, but I do quite like it on its own.

What do you think of these polishes?

  4. I think Popular looks great by yourself, but Something Sweet seems like the perfect polish to pair it with.
