Product Rave! SauceBox Creme de la Creme and Mascara - review and swatches!

December 20, 2012

I saw the other day that Lipstick Republic were having a sale, where if you buy a SauceBox palette, you get a SauceBox mascara free. I have never tried SauceBox, but I have been interested in trying it since seeing the review on youtube by 2befem. So naturally I decided I needed a Christmas present :P the palette was on sale for $30, and there are two other colourful palettes available, but I thought I would get more use out of this nudes palette. Lipstick Republic were also sweet enough to include a Lime Crime Uniliner, which I was so excitied finding! It is so stunning, but I will review that tomorrow so I won't show it now. Thanks Lipstick Republic for the Christmas present!

If you are from Australia and haven't checked out Lipstick Republic, you should do it now! They stock brands that are hard to find in Australia, the shipping is reasonably priced, and the shipping is super fast - I ordered this on Monday and got it on Tuesday! Also if you want 10% off your purchase, then enter the code RepublicVIBs

Look how cute!

So the packaging is made out of a sturdy cardboard and contains a good sized mirror and has a magnetic clasp. There are six shades in this palette and the pans are really big (see photo below, where I compare it to a MAC eye shadow), and the palette has these little rivets in it where you can easily lift out the shadows so you can depot them, and repot them.

The top row contains a light nude pink shimmery highlight shade, a shimmery brown copper, and a shimmery silver
The bottom row contains a bright shimmery champagne highlight shade, a shimmery taupe, and a matte black with a slight shimmer in it.

Each of these shades are amazing quality! All of them are exceptionally pigmented, buttery smooth and magic to blend! I think these are probably the best quality shadows I have ever used! The black is dangerously pigmented and you need the tiniest amount! Because these are so soft, you can get some fall out, but meh its worth it! I have only started using this palette, but I think this might be my favourite palette of the year! I wore this to work yesterday (with a primer) and it did not crease at all after a good 10 or more hours of wear. I can't believe you can get a palette of 6 large shadows that are amazing quality for about the same price of one MAC eye shadow! I am definitely going to keep my eye out for more products from SauceBox, and I think I might even buy some of these palettes for my makeup enthusiast friends for birthdays next year.

On to the mascara! I haven't tried a great new mascara in a while, so I was looking forward to this after seeing the quality of the eye shadows.

This mascara has one of those plastic spiky brushes, which is really flexible. I was happy when I saw this wand, because I have been wanting to try a mascara like this for a while. I was pretty impressed with this mascara, it really separates, lengthens, and thickens the lashes without adding too much bulk and clumps. This mascara didn't seem like it pulls too much product out, which reduces the clumps and the wastage. This lasted without any flaking or any issues all day, and was pretty easy to remove with makeup remover. Love this mascara.

Here is the look I did yesterday using the pink highlight shade and the bronze from the top line of the palette, and the taupe and black from the bottom line of the palette. I also used the mascara.

Overall I am super super impressed with SauceBox, and I will definitely keep an eye out for more products by them. Have you tried anything from SauceBox?

  4. The palette looks great - I like how you can easily depot the shadows (not that I do, but I know it's a feature a lot of people would like). Lipstick Republic also always have really nice packaging.

  5. Those pans are huge! and the colours are really lovely, I mean, one can never go wrong with neutrals, right? hehe Also, that mascara looks great, I love those rubber brushes because like you said they reduce clumping (?) and waste less product. Thanks for the review love. ^^ xx

  8. The best part of Saucebox Cosmetics is that most of the shadows can double as a blush or highlighter. For example the two lightest creams in it can be used as a highlighter while the pinks in the Forbidden Fruits palette can be used as blushes (note: USE A LIGHT HAND).

I've previously done a side-by-side comparison of Black Widow (which is the name of the black in this palette) and I think it's my blackest black that doesn't turn gray when blending. The only downside to Black Widow use a primer otherwise it may stain the skin because it's THAT pigmented.
