Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains review and swatches of 035 Charm, 001 Honey, 045 Romantic, and 005 Crush

December 7, 2012

I did a post a little while ago with the Revlon Kissable Balm Stains in the shades Cherish, Sweetheart and Rendezvous (see post here), and since then I managed to pick up another four shades. I bought the shade Crush on ebay with the other three that I have already reviewed, and I was sent Charm by mistake. The ebay store owner allowed me to keep Charm and then they sent me out Crush. I was going to do a review on those two shades, but I wasn't too impressed with them so I wasn't too motivated to review them.

Recently these Kissable Balm Stains arrived in Australia (and cost a whopping $18), but Priceline were having a buy one get one free then I bought Honey and Romantic. I was super happy with these two shades, which motivated me to write this review.

I love the packaging of these, they are like twist up crayon type products, and they are very easy to apply. The balm itself smells like mint, is quite nourishing, and stays on for a good few hours. When the balm wears off, you are left with a stain that lasts a further few hours, depending on which shade you choose - the darker shades naturally last longer than the lighter shades. What I love about these is that they are such a fool proof easy product. They feel comfortable, provide a good amount of colour, and don't require frequent touch ups.

You can see that the darker shades tend to swatch a little patchier, but they do apply quite nicely to the lips. You can also apply the dark colours sheerly or build them up to make a stronger colour. You can see that Honey is a nice nude pink, and that Charm is the lightest of the four, and is actually lighter than my natural lip colour.

Charm
Charm is a light peach shade. If you apply this shade well it can look quite nice, but because it is lighter than my natural lip shade, then it can settle in the dry patches and creases of my lips and look really strange. Since this is also quite light, I don't find this leaves any significant stain and wears off the quickest. This is probably my least used out of all the shades I own.

Honey
I didn't have much faith in the nude shades, because of Charm, but since Priceline was having a buy one get one free sale (and I was buying Romantic), I thought I would get the shade Honey to see what all the fuss is about. Honey is a mid toned nude pink and has become my most used shade. I think the think I like most about it is that it is slightly darker than my lips, but gives a really pretty "your lips but better" look. This also does stain and ends up lasting on my lips for 3-4 hours, which is great for a nude. This shade is the easiest to wear on a daily basis.

Romantic
I love Romantic, it applies quite evenly, and gives the perfect cherry red lips. This would be a great shade for people who are scared to wear a bold red lip and want something a little more subtle, or if you like a red lip (like me), then this is a great way to get away with a red lip during the day.

When I first got Crush, I wasn't too impressed. It is a great colour, its like a berry wine shade, but it is the hardest to apply as it can become patchy if you try to build up too much colour. This is a nice berry tone, and I think it looks the best when it has been rubbed in and sheered out a little. With most of the other shades you can apply them like a lip balm without a mirror... but this one definitely needs a mirror to apply it. Now that I have used it more, I do like this shade, but it's not my most used shade. This shade lasts 5+ hours easily.

Besides Charm (which is just ok), I love all of these shades. The three previous shades I reviewed were super bright, and I ended up getting sick of wearing them after a short time. I think I will get the most use out of Honey and Romantic, as they are more traditional and more wearable colours.

  9. All four of these look lovely on you! I actually really like Charm on your lips - I'm a sucker for those kind of soft, peachy pink shades. Crush looks gorgeous but I can see that it does apply slightly more patchily than the others. I haven't considered Romantic but it looks like a really wearable red :)
