Illamasqua Naked Rose Powder Blusher and Hollow Cream Pigment review and swatches | KITSCH/SNITCH

Illamasqua Naked Rose Powder Blusher and Hollow Cream Pigment review and swatches

December 21, 2012

I bought the Illamasqua Cream Pigment in Hollow and Powder Blusher in Naked Rose when there was a 20% off discount and free shipping if you spent £20 or something like that on the Illamasqua website. I recently bought a lipstick from the Illamasqua website and I wasn't too impressed (see review here), but I must say, I have scored a win with both of these products!

You can get these online, or of course now that Illamasqua has dropped their prices in Australia, I recommend you check these out in store!

The Powder Blusher is very impressive! It is the softest blush that I have ever felt, and it is a beautiful soft, slightly blue based, natural powder pink. This gives the cheeks such a natural flush, and I have used it almost every day since I have received it. Even though this blush is very light and natural, it also is very pigmented and you only need to touch your brush onto the pan to get enough product. One other thing that I love about this blush is that it smells like lollies! This may be my favourite blush of the year... I know it's a big claim, but its just so pretty!

Cream Pigment in Hollow and Powder Blusher in Naked Rose

I bought this Cream Pigment as a contour colour, but this can be used anywhere on the face or the eyes. It is a grey/brown putty colour, or "toffee" as the website says, and looks a little strange in the tub, but makes the most natural shadow colour on the skin... which is what a contour is supposed to do. I tend to apply this with my fingers, because I haven't yet found a brush that easily picks up this product, as it is a firm cream texture. I find that once I have blended it, it looks so natural, so no more orange stripes! I have even started using this to contour my nose, which I never did before because I found that the products I had looked a little strange. Because I do use my fingers, it is harder to get a strong cheek bone look, so until I find a good brush to use with this, I use it more as a natural contour shade.

Illamasqua Cream Pigment in Hollow, MAC Blush in Harmony, Sleek Contour Palette in Light

I thought I would show how different this shade is from other contour shades that I have. When I do contour, which isn't too often because I am pretty bad at contouring, I use MAC Harmony blush or Sleeks Contour Kit in Light... you can see from the swatches above how orange these two powders look compared to the Cream Pigment!

I love this shade, and the only thing that I am finding hard to get used to is the cream formula... This has still become my favourite contour product, but I would love Illamasqua to come out with a powder version of this shade.

Overall, I think I scored a win on both of these products, and I would highly recommend them!

  2. I totally agree, that blush is gorgeous! I've been curious about the Hollow cream pigment for a while now, I wonder how it compares to NYX Taupe blush (which I currently use for contouring)? May have to invest, I like how non orange it is.

    1. Funny you mention NYX taupe, I ordered that a month ago and my order was delayed because they ran out of stock, and I refused to accept another shade... So expect a comparison as soon as I get that!

  4. I love both of these products! apparently there is an eyeshadow the exact colour of Hollow, the girls I spoke to at the makeup counter said they used it instead of Hollow to contour. Sorry I can't remember the name of it!

  8. I have Naked Rose and agree that it is very soft and extremely pigmented. I am really interested in Hollow now, it looks like a great contour shade and I've never tried cream contouring products before :)
