Whats in my makeup bag?

November 27, 2012

I have lately been loving the nice weather in Melbourne, and I have been taking all of my photos outside, but last night a thunderstorm started and hasn't stopped, and my street looks like a river... so I am stuck inside today until it's time to go to work.

I decided to do a "whats in my makeup bag" post, because I am moving house in the next few days and I have packed up most of my makeup, so I am relying on the makeup in my makeup bag for both everyday makeup and work makeup. This doesn't contain my brushes, since I haven't packed my brushed away yet.

The gold makeup bag that I am using is the one I got from the Bourjois gift with purchase from earlier in the month (see gift here). I really like this makeup bag because its not too big, but big enough to hold a decent amount of makeup.

Eye/eye brow products:
  • Laura Mercier eye shadow in Caramel (see review here) - I love this as a subtle crease colour
  • MAC Mineralise Eye Shadows in Twilight Falls and Daylight (see review here) - I am loving this combination for an all over eye look.
  • MUA eye shadow in the shade 19 Matte (see review here) - this is a great crease/lash line/eyebrow colour
  • Smashbox Cream Eye Liner in Putty (see review here) - this is my favourite brow product
  • Lime Crime Candy Eyed Eyeshadow Primer sample - I got this sample free with a Lipstick Republic order. It is a great makeup bag size.
  • Maybelline Volum' Express Mascara The Falsies Flared Mascara (see review here)
  • Revlon Glow Luscious Mascara - I am not sure what I think about this mascara yet, to get a bold lash look I tend to use both of these mascaras
  • Contour Clubbing Waterproof liner in the shade 41 Black Party (see swatch here) - this is a decent waterproof liner, a makeup bag staple
  • Sportsgirl To The Point liquid liner (see swatch here) - this is an easy no fuss way of getting a liquid eyeliner look
  • Smashbox Artificial Light Luminizing Powder - the perfect inner corner highlight product

Lip Products:
  • Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm (see quick review here) - this my favourite lip balm of the moment
  • Shiseido Lipstick mini in the shade BE208 (see swatch here) - I thought I had to include a lipstick in my makeup bag, and this is a very wearable and a very travel friendly lipstick. Honestly I didn't need to include this because I have at least a dozen lip products floating around my handbag :P

Face products:
  • Benefit Pore Professional Primer sample - I haven't used this too much yet, but it is a great makeup bag sized primer
  • Garnier Oily Combination Skin BB Cream in Light (see review here) - this is my favourite foundation to wear on a daily basis
  • Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation in the shade 52 - I tend to wear this when I want a little more coverage than the BB Cream, often I will mix the two.
  • MUA Pressed Powder in Shade 1 (see review here) - I love this powder, it gives decent coverage, gets rid of oil, and is super cheap!
  • Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer in the shade 002 Nude (see review here) - this is a great under eye concealer!
  • MAC Harmony Blush - I don't contour on a daily basis, but its nice to include a contour product just in case
  • Jordana Blush in Sandalwood (see review here) - I adore this blush for a really natural peach cheek.
  • Mirenesse Cheeky Blush in shade 2 Russian Rose - I got this blush sample with a Mirenesse order, and it is so small that it works really well in a makeup bag.
  • Bourjois Délice de Soleil Bronzng Powder in 14 Olive/Tanned Skin (see swatch here) - not only is this a good bronzer, but the mirror is perfect for putting on your makeup on the go... see photos below to see how the mirror works!

The epic thing about this bronzers packaging is that the mirror swivels. Originally I didn't see the point of it, but now I do, and I love it. So you can open the mirror, swivel it around to the point where the mirror is now backwards... and then close it with the mirror on the outside. Wa-la, you can use the mirror without having the packaging open, without the brush falling out, and without you getting powder everywhere! This is the perfect travel companion.

  1. There are some great products there! i keep hearing great things about the lime crime primer,i may have to invest in one :) thanks for sharing!

  2. The swiveling lid is a great idea!!

  3. Wow, you fit so many items in that one makeup bag! I'm curious about that Bourjois bronzer and the chocolate one they have, that swivel idea is definitely cool xx

  4. Haha...Not to sound stalkerish, but I think I know where you live/d. I would finish the comment off there, but that would look very bad.

That's a lot of products for a travel make-up bag. Mine contains the bare minimum.

    1. I live and lived in Brunswick East, but I just moved house so its not too stalkerish :P

  5. I got that bronzer in a swap and love it! Now I know why the mirror swivels :)
