November Empties 2012

November 28, 2012

I knew this empties post was going to be huge, I think I even said in my last empties post that I am coming to the end of a lot of products so November empties will be big. I usually do my empties post in the first week of the month, but because I have so many, and because I am moving house tomorrow, I decided to get rid of these sooner.

Laura Mercier Mineral Pressed Powder in Tender Rose - I am going to miss this powder, it was a little light got me, but it gave great coverage. I would recommend this, and I would repurchase it eventually, but it's a pretty pricey powder ($65ish) and I don't know if I will splurge on it any time soon.

L'Oreal Lumino Contrast Thermo Protective Xyclose - I find commenting on heat protectants quite hard to do, because you don't really see any noticeable results, it's more about prevention. This was a half fluid half oil type product that you shake up. I have since started using another heat protector and I have notcied that this newer one dispurses a much more even mist, whereas this L'Oreal one had more of a spray that leaves patches of your hair quite wet. On that alone, I probably wouldn't repurchase.

Oxy Daily Body Wash - I bought this body wash a couple of months into Spring, because I found the change of seasons caused my skin to become quite problematic. This is an oil control body wash for males (clearly I am not a male), and I found that if you consistently used this then it did make my skin better, but after I stopped using it consistently my skin had its good days and its bad days... so the moral to the story is that if you use this, then use it consistently. I would repurchase if I am having a bad skin week.

Herbal Essences Drama Clean Clarifying Shamopoo and Balancing Conditioner - This was one of my fist non-salon shampoo and conditioner that I had used in quite a while, and I was pretty impressed. It smelt nice and the clarifying shampoo did make my hair feel really clean and lightweight. I would repurchase this in the future.

Instant Rockstar Kiss the Sky Rock Harder Hairspray - I got this from Hairhouse Warehouse as some bonus gift because I spent over a certain amount. It was ok, I never noticed the name of this hairspray, its a bit wanky... and I probably won't repurchase it for the name alone. It did last me forever, and did work pretty well. I recall it smelling strangely of alcohol, like a vodka drink, but I suppose that fits in well with the name. The nozel did get blocked over time, but it was easy to unblock. Would I repurchase? Maybe. I just quickly looked up this product, and it has changed the packaging, and it costs around $15 which isn't too bad for this hairspray.

Colgate Total Mint Waxed Dental Floss - After seeing the dentist recently I have become a flossing Nazi, and I had this dental floss kicking around my bathroom for ages, and I didn't use it much. This is a pretty standard dental floss, and I have repurchased it.

Garnier Deogerant Invisi Mineral 48 Hour Max Protection - This is a pretty good deodorant, it definitely does not last 48 hours, but I like the smell, it sprays well, and it doesn't leave white marks. Would repurchase

Dr Hauschka Cleasing Milk sample - I am not a fan of cleansing milks, and this one didn't impress me, which was a little disappointing because I know this brand isn't cheap. This may suit people who have super sensitive skin and needs a really gentile cleanser. I would not purhcase the full size.

Say It With Scent Frangipani Hand and Body Lotion sample - I got this in a Lust Have It box and I was a bit bummed that I didn't get the vanilla or green tea one because I hate super floral scents. This was not the most impressive body lotion, it was a bit too runny for my liking, so I wouldn't purchase this.

Kiehl's Aloe Vera Biodegradable Liquid Body Cleanser sample - I used this maybe three days ago and I am struggling to remember it... thats not the best sign. It did smell nice and fresh, almost like toothpaste, which I did like. I also like that it is biodegradable, and I would consider buying it depending on how much it costs... I can't even find this on the Kiehl's website, so I doubt whether I can buy it!

Dr Lewinn's Refining Toner - I did really like this toner, and it was the first alcohol free toner that I enjoyed using. I bought this in a bargain bin, and when I looked at how much it normally cost (I recall that it was over $35), I am skeptical about whether it is worth that price. I will shop around and if I can't find a toner for cheaper than I will buy this again.

Garnier Ultra Lift SPF15 Moisturiser - I have bought this three or so times in the past, and it is a good moisturiser for its price. I tend to fall back on this when I need a day time moisturiser with SPF and I can't be bothered spending too much money. It smells nice, is thick and moisurising enough, does not leave me feeling greasy. I would no doubt repurchase this eventually.

Pure Fiji Body Butter in Starfruit sample - This was a decent body butter, and it was a good size for a sample, you could definitely get a few uses out if it. It smells like tropical juice, which is nice, but can be too strong for me at times. If you love tropial smelling body lotion, then try this... but I am more of a vanilla gal.

Bioderma Sebium H2O sample - Hmmm Bioderma is so hyped up, so I was hoping to love this. I frequently used this since getting it in the Bellabox this month, but I'm not impressed enough to want to spend the money on the full size. I definitely think the Garnier Clean Sensitive 2 in 1 Waterproof Face and Eye Makeup Remover is better and cheaper.

Kosmea Rose Hip Oil sample - I love love love this, and my boyfriend and I are currenly loving our 10ml bottle of this. I will have this in my bathroom forever, I can't praise it more. So yes, I will repurchase this. (see review here)

Korres Provitamin B5 and Rice Bran Mascara - This started off being an meh mascara, but I did end up liking it. It was far too natural looking at the start, but I think after a few uses it did start to thicken up. I mainly used this on my lashes to separate them, and then I would put another mascara over the top to thicken them up more. I did end up loving this combination, but I don't think it's worth the money by itself. I did get two of these in two Korres kits (see review here), so I have another one to use, but I will unlikely go out of my way to buy it as I like more oomph to my lashes, but this will work if you like a natural look.

Rexona Anti Perspirant Calming Deodorant - Generally deodorant is deodorant for me, but I didn't like this. I did like the smell, but I found it to be quite weak and I did get a little smelly by the end of the day. This might be good if you have sensitive skin and need a calming deodorant, but I could use bleach on my underarms without much fuss. I would not repurchase.

Korres Quercetin and Oak Antiageing and Antiwrinkle Face Serum - I didn't like this serum, I found it did nothing for my skin, and it stung my eyes... It's also far too overpriced if you don't get it on sale. I ended up using this on my body to use it up, I am ashamed to admit that, but at least I didn't waste it. I got this in a pack (see review here) with the eyecream and I would not repuchase either product.

Korres Quercetin and Oak Antiageing and Antiwrinkle Light Texture - Unlike the serum or eye cream, this wasn't too bad. I loved the smell and it did feel nice, but I didn't understand the point of it. It was almost like a light moisturiser that you could use during the day but it had no SPF, and it wasn't thick enough for a night cream. This just hung around my bathroom until I started using it under my day cream, just to use it up. I think this would work on people with really oily skin who need a super light moisturiser, and for people who don't like SPF. Would not repurchase, but it is the best of this range that I have tried so far.

Korres Quercetin and Oak Antiageing and Antiwrinkle Eye Cream - Out of the three Korres products, this was the worst! It is an eye cream, but if you put it anywhere close to your eyes it stings. You would literally need to apply it to the top of your cheeks to avoid it making your eyes sting. I ended up mixing this with my night cream to use it up. Would never recommend this, and would never repurchase. Worst eye cream ever!

Matrix Design Pulse Mix in Shine Brillian Serum - I loved the smell of this hair serum, it smells like a watermelon lip balm that I used to have as a kid. This sample also lasted me probably a good 6-7 applications. I wasn't the biggest fan of this because I did find that because it is a shine serum, it does weigh my hair down, which is a thing I tend to avoid. It's not for me, but I can imagine a lot of other people liking it.

That's it for November empties! Have you used any of the products that I mentioned?
