More OCC Lip Tars - Interlace and Radiate review and swatches

November 28, 2012

As part of those Black Friday sales, Lipstick Republic had 20% off their website. I was so tempted to place a huge order, but I am moving house tomorrow and moving is quite expensive, so I decided to only order two things. Anyway I placed an order for these two Lip Tars that I have been wanting for a while, and I knew I was cutting it fine with shipping, but as per usual, Lipstick Republic shipped this super quickly and it arrived on Tuesday. If you wanted to order from Lipstick Republic, they sell Lip Tars for the same price as they are sold in the US ($16), shipping was $6.60, and if you want 10% off your purchase then use the code RepublicVIBs. Lipstick Republic is my new favourite website for OCC, Lime Crime and Butter London purchases!

If you wanted to see a more in depth review about the lip tar formula or if you wanted to see my other lip tars that I have, then check out my lip tar collection post.

Look how pretty the packaging is, and it came with a few extra goodies; a Lime Crime eyeshadow primer sample and a NYX Auto Eye Pencil... I love these pencils that you don't have to sharpen. I forgot to take a photo of the pencil swatch, but I might insert that soon. This also came with a little travel OCC lip brush, which actually works perfectly when applying the lip tars!

So these are the two shades. Interlace is described on the OCC website as being "palest peach" and Radiate is described as "true neon red". I love a bright lip, so Radiate stood out to me when I was looking up swatches, but instead of being a neon red, I think it is more of a vibrant neon coral... it definitely has orange-pink undertones. I bought Interlace because I wanted to mix it with my other lip tars to lighten some shades. I normally hate really pale lips because they look really bad on me, but I was actually impressed with how well I could work this colour! This is officially the only super pale nude that looks ok on me, I was super happy that I chose this shade.

These are also the new packaging, which is so much better than the older lipgloss style applicators.

Interlace and Radiate

As you can see from the swatches above, Interlace is a true nude and Radiate is a very vibrant neon red colour.

Interlace really does blank out my lips, but for some reason it doesn't make me look dead (YAY). You will need to exfoliate your lips for this one, because the colour can show up dry patches. This shade does last a decent length of time, maybe a few hours (even with eating and drinking), but it doesn't fade as nicely as the darker shades because you start seeing the darker natural shade of your lips coming through the inside of your lips. I am still very impressed at how nice this does look on the lips, as I bought it purely for mixing.

Now this is my kind of lip colour! It is so bright and so beautiful, and fades down to a dark coral stain. I tried this on yesterday a couple hours before I went to work, and it still looked perfect by the time I needed to go to work, so I ended up putting some gloss on it and trying to sheer it down because I don't think such bright lips would suit my work place. Even sheered down, this colour lasted as a stain for the majority of my 8 hour shift, which included dinner and a few cups of tea... I also got a few compliments from coworkers about my lip colour! This is an amazing colour, I highly recommend it! This is definitely going to be my go to Summer shade for a long lasting that is low maintenance and definitely gets attention.

Over all I am super happy with my new lip tar purchases, and even though I love my other ones, I think these two shades are up there in my favourite shades. I also think the new packaging is so much cleaner than the older packaging, which was quite messy and was the reason why I didn't wear these as much as I should!

  9. Wow, these shades are so different, but are equally stunning! Radiate is right up my alley, as I have a soft spot for super vibrant lipsticks. Our Sephora just started carrying Lip Tars, so I'll have to check this one out :)

  10. Radiate looks amazing. The old packaging was one of the main reasons I haven't tried any Lip Tars so it's great to hear this new packaging is much better.

  11. After reading your blog I decided to try out some Lime Crime cosmetics because I love the bright shades! Sadly, when I googled Lime Crime and its founder, Xenia AKA "Doe Deere" I stumbled upon a detailed history of her fraudulent behaviour, abuse of customers and donating to fake charities. I don't know how many people know about this but I no longer want to buy Lime Crime :( Just google "Lime Crime fraud"- I'm interested to know what you think!

    1. Yeah I did know that. A year or two ago when I first wanted to buy the lipsticks, that's all google came up with when you looked up lime crime. I'm not too fussed about it, I don't like "doe deer" but I like to judge a brand on its products, not necessarily its founder. She is dodgy, but I think she has picked up her game, and lime crimes products are quite unique and good.
