Max Factor Fantasy Fire nail polish review

November 13, 2012

Here is a quick nail polish review, while I am taking a short exam study break. I finally picked up Max Factor's Fantasy Fire the other day from Priceline. It cost about $6.50 for this this mini nail polish (this shade only comes in the mini size), and it is really small, but also really cute (see comparison to a normal size nail polish below). I have been wanting this shade for a little while now because it is just so pretty!

So this is a purple shade that has pinky-rose gold shimmer in some light and turquoise shimmer other light. Because it is such a small bottle, it also has a really small brush (see photo below)

The one down side to this nail polish is that it is VERY sheer, the photo above is of two coats, and the photo below if of four coats! I refused to put more than four coats so if I want it darker in the future, I will just put a couple of coats over a purple nail polish. I also had to trim my nails in the photo below, because you could see under my nails (like in the photo above) even after four coats

This is a very pretty polish, it is hard to capture how pretty it is in a photo, but I can't stop looking at my nails! Also I think that because it is such a thin polish, it has been wearing pretty well. I painted my nails on Sunday, and it is now Tuesday and I have minimal wear. I am very interested in seeing how this looks over a darker nail polish, because I think it will really come to life.

Have you tried this polish? Do you wear it on its own or over another colour?
Also remember to follow my blog! Thanks! xx

  4. I LOVE this colour but I do wish it was just a touch more opaque. It does look fantastic over just about any purple nail polish though.

  6. I'm bummed I didn't get myself to a Big W to take advantage of the special on Max Factor! I bought this ages ago but haven't yet managed to wear it properly. I think the swatches I saw online set up unrealistic expectations :p It is a really unique polish though, and I love the gradient effect it gives and how it transforms any base polish.

    1. Yeah, I never check Big W specials, so I'm not too disappointed. I think all the vibrant photos of this polish online must have bee taken with a dark purple underneath

  7. WOW! How gorgeous! I love the name of this polish! I do like the fact that it is sheer so it can be popped on top of other colours to play around with the colour :)
