Makeup Clear Out 2012

November 20, 2012

I am moving house at the end of next week, and I decided to do a bit of a clear out. One thing that I have noticed, which is quite strange, is that I am very reluctant to get rid of makeup! Most of the stuff that I am throwing out are products that I REALLY don't like, or products that are so old that I will never use them again, most fall in the latter category. When I first thought of doing a clear out, it was also going to involve products that I don't use often, but I was too reluctant to throw these out this time.

Here are all the lip products. These are all pretty much some very old products that I had hiding in a bag at the back of my cupboard. I also decided to throw out the MUA lipsticks and Lip Boom, sorry MUA, but I think these are the worst products of your range... I was tempted to throw out the lip liners too, but I might do that in my next clear out.

These are the eye products that I am getting rid of, these are all from back in the day when I pretty much only wore cheaper makeup, and clearly I really liked blues and greens.

These are the perfumes that I am throwing out... some of these are really oil and I never use them (for example the Body Shop ones), or I got these as gifts and I just don't like them. An example of this is the fcuk perfume, which is a perfume that my ex boyfriend got me.

I have A LOT of nail polishes, and these are some very old shades... most of these are way past their used by date and I won't use any of these colours.

I don't have much skincare that I am getting rid of, since I have gone to some effort in the last few months to start using things up, but these are products that I won't use. I bought the Neutrogenia Rapid Clear Spot Gel a while ago, and lost it... when I went to get another spot treatment, I accidentally bought the same one, and then found the old one. Since I have been loving my Mario Badescu Drying Lotion, then I really don't need these, and they don't work too well. I bought one of these Garnier Roll-On things when they first cam out and were on special, I didn't see any results so I stopped using it, and then I got another in a Garnier Christmas gift pack. If you read my blog, you may also notice this Face Of Australia instant tan from my disappointing product review.

I may do another clear out once I move in to my new place, and once I sort out my makeup collection. Have you done a clear out recently?

  1. What is the Revlon polish in the top left corner? The deep reddy colour!

I need to do a clean out, but I'm way too attached to let ANYTHING go :(

I'm the worst at cleaning things out,I'll start and then start thinking, "Actually i'll keep this I'll use it next week" and never do!

  7. I seriously need to do the same thing! It's liberating to get rid of clutter and make some space for better things :)

  8. I do this from time to time which is why I maintain a relatively small makeup collection (well small compared to you!). I find the hardest things to let go are palettes as there is always 1 or 2 shadows you love but they take up so much space :(

  9. It's probably best to throw those old nail polishes out anyway. They probably have some nasty chemicals in them. Hopefully you disposed of them properly. If not next time, remember they are hazardous waste!
